We have a small theater with the marquee sign saying "Closed. Ran out of toilet paper."

They were going away soon anyway. $68 for me, my wife and 2 kids to go see frozen 2 + 2 drinks and large popcorn.

That was the last time we were going regardless of the current crises or hoax or flu with no vaccine. Whatever you want to call it.

It's not like there is a lot of overhead. Supplies aren't going bad on them.

And there will be HS kids willing to make $3/hr again, for some reason.

That said, I haven't been in a theatre in over a year.

Even when the shelter in place is lifted, who is going to go back to the theater full of people? I won't.

Theaters need to die in a fucking fire, anyway.

This might be a BIG pro with COVID-19 is Hollywood realizes these dumbass theaters that nobody really wants to go to anyway but have to, because they want to see a stupid ass Disney movie can finally watch it from home. Amazon and sites have responded perfectly. Charge a premium and we don't have to pack in a theater with a bunch of annoying douche nozzle popcorn eating fags and their fuckhead kids... *this should not be modded and I assume will be an applaud by the community*

Movie theaters are basically the Hitler of entertainment. I don't even know what that means but I'm saying it. AND any dislikes to my post will PERSONALLY get banned.

We have the technology in place to easily get a movie theater experience with home TV/Sound. Thanks to China (too soon? Well fuck all of you) we can afford it for cheap, and having to go spend $100 for a family of 4 at a fuckin' theater that should cost $20 overall is ridiculous. Yet some service has come out charging $50K for in home movies plus the receiver? FUCK YOU HOLLYWOOD, I will forever rip off versions of the movie for free because of that.

"BUT THE SOUND AND PICTURE IS SO MUCH BETTER!" Seriously, go die in a fire. "But it's something to do with the kids!" Just be normal and pay some asshole High School kid half of what you'd pay for a theater and go out to lunch at Chipotle or something. Tired of these dumbass parents having kids and then looking for cheap reasons to entertain them. I'll entertain them for free with a BB gun and a hose.

I haven't seen a full theater in over 20 years. How the he'll were they surviving before this?

The last 3 movies I saw in a theatre are long ago.

The last one i saw was Terminator III in 2002 when on the road in Calgary.

Prior to that it would have been the Mario Andretti Speed Vision IMAX thing I saw while at a Vancouver Indy.

Before that it was the Jack Nicholson, Michael Keaton Batman.

Because that is where they make their money. Most of ticket cost goes back to the studios. But the concession stands keeps the lights on.

Not just most, for the first 2-3 weeks all of the ticket sale money goes to Hollywood and the theater gets nothing. And then after that the theater still gets the majority of the money.

Don't go because of the ridiculous cost, since most movies are crap anyway.

That might change if they go for the best talent, instead of whoever will show their tits or suck the director's dick.
