Colts
Patriots
Titans
49ers

Who am I missing? I don't want to cheat and look it up
Well some were by default and who took over so heres who I counted, lol that may be easier

  1. cowboys-dak
  2. Vikings-cousins
  3. 49'ers-jimmy
  4. seahwks-russ
  5. patriots-brady
  6. Dolphins-fitzmagic
  7. bengals-dalton and company
  8. colts-brissset
  9. jags-foles or minshew
I guess thos were the ones to start there year that were no matter what were starting non 1'st rounders

Titans-mariota and tanny were 1st rounders

You can argue
the redskins started the year with a non first rounder
The lions defaulted to a non first rounder
The Broncos moved on to a second rounder
Steelers defaulted to a 3rd rounder and UDFA
Jets had time without their 1st rounder
Chiefs did too
Eagles did too
bears did shortly, and should have stayed there
Panthers as well maybe thats who i counted

Dont ask me which one of those three i counted in the 10 lol probably denver

I know people think the Browns are just getting an OT no matter what I wouldn't have a problem with taking Isaiah Simmons at #10. He's a beast. Doubt he drops to 10 though

Lots of guys have arms. Hear that every year. Kyle boller had one, locker, Russell, the list goes on. There's a ton of college guys with a cannon.
If "big arm" is #1 attribute of a QB I prefer my team stay away from that guy. I prefer smart and accurate.

I doubt he drops but agree if he's there, take him.

Wouldn't mind an OT but I always remember what LeCharles Bentley used to say....."If you want to improve your O-line find a smart QB who makes quick decisions."

Yep, that's why I liked baker, cocky and accurate.
also think the height thing is way overblown. Sure, most QBs are taller but when a short QB is deemed worthy of going early in the draft it's not like they fail at a higher rate than big QBs. Would think failure rate is much lower. Only short guys I can think of who went high and failed were Johnny Dumbass and maybe Rick Mirer (cannot recall if he was short or not).

There really isnt an archetype for QBs anymore. People slept on Tom Brady because he was a terrible athlete and Lamar Jackson because they only saw him as an athlete. Its up to the coaches to find the elite qualities in players much like how the good football teams can find a single quality in a UDFA running back and turn that running back into a star in the right system.

I think clearly the two most important things in a QB is processing speed and accuracy. What the big arm or the awesome legs give you is a way to win even if your QB is having a bad game. Thats when the chess match turns into a game of basketball and all of a sudden its just about pure raw talent. Generally, though, you want to win the chess match.

Dang, I'm watching Jeudy film and he literally drops 2 easy TDs against the national champions. PFF was talking him up quite a bit but I'm thinking he's probably a mid 1st rounder.

I think it has some Validity, just because there has been such a long history of shorter qbs not succeeding. However that's back in college too. The guys that are in the discussion of higher picks, generally aren't that size.

which is exactly the point I think your making, I think.

Murphy the processing speed and accuracy. Which is why a josh Allen wasn't anywhere near the top of my LIsts, or a Jordan love. Also guys like boller, Russell, etc, that just aren't accurate or smart. But have intangibles.

just cause u have an arm. Doesn't mean u can use it .

.
I think we are saying the same thing. sure, there are far more big QBs than short ones. But when a short QB is deemed worthy to go high in the draft they seem like they fail a lot less often than big ones....but, yeah, not many of the shorter ones are deemed worthy of a high pick.

Honestly, other than Manziel, I cannot think of a short QB who went early who did not pan out. Thought Mirer, but he's 6-3. Probably others, but none come to mind.

Even the Garrett thread is normal. It's a sports forum......Gonna be disagreements. Sports would be boring if we all agreed. All in good fun for me.

I try to stay away from the namecalling (but I'm sure I've been guilty of it on a mild basis) and base my comments on post not poster. Even in a discussion with a Steeler (or other rival) fan, I will not automatically take the side of a fellow Browns fan. If I think he is wrong I'll say so.

Oh I know I laugh trust me!

fwiw I went back and looked through 2007. I stopped there . I stuck to the first two rounds . The shortest "busts" were 6"2, with the lone exception being pat white at 6'0. So yeah there haven't really been any examples

And white was mid-late round, right? wouldn't even call that a bust.

Other fallacies I think are absurd are when people say don;t take a QB based on college team or conference.
