That means only the team with the best record in each conference would receive a bye during wild-card weekend. It would add two games — one from each conference — to wild-card weekend for a total of six games on the first weekend of the postseason.

How would the matchups work? So the 6th and 7th seed will play to determine who is the ultimate 6th seed or something? Seems stupid.

Course it's all just a money grab like adding 1-2 extra season games. Easy to understand why the NFL wants to do it, logistically doesn't make much sense though.

Meh, we can bitch if we want but the owners are hell bent on adding games that matter so I would rather see this than a 17 game schedule. I think most of the players will agree to the trade off if it is indeed an either/or type of thing. Of course, now you have that 7 seed getting the 2 seed and often that 2 has to battle to the end of the season and needs the rest. Could possibly see some more upsets in the making.
Looking back to this past season, I think I would have enjoyed a Steelers/Chiefs match-up and a Rams/Saints rematch. I don't think it's worth anyone getting their panties in a bunch over if it does happen.
