First career bucket for Romeo Langford... (not bad, taking it right at Andre Drummond with the left hand)

This is a great clip from Grant Williams... first on the defensive end where his positioning is rock solid, then showing his versatility bringing the ball up the floor and making a tough pass.

One of the big strengths of the Celtics is that multiple guys can bring the ball up the floor without needing to waste time with a pass and therefore catch the opposing defense before it is set. Jaylen Brown excels in creating these semi-transition opportunities, in particular... but Tatum, Hayward and even Husky Grant can all force this kind of action... it's huge for us.

The Celtics have definitely hit a mid-season malaise...

Excuses can be made, of course. There have been various injuries. The C's have also played a lot of games in January... that has an impact.

But there is a good argument to be made that shooting (not size) is at the bottom of the funk. Simply put... in a make or miss league, the C's aren't making enough shots.

This about sums it up...

Forsberg: No shortage of ideas from readers to fix what ails Celtics

"For all the laments about Boston’s need for size, we’ve long felt that Boston’s biggest issue is shooting and it’s a more obtainable skill based on the in-season assets you have available to upgrade.

Here’s the crux of the issue: Boston ranks 19th in the NBA in 3-point percentage (35.2). Take away Kemba Walker’s shooting and it plummets closer to 25th.

More condemning: Celtics reserves are shooting a meager 30.4 percent beyond the arc this season.

Yeah I posted a while back that like 4 of Boston’s top 8 players were the centers.

But finding one that fits this team is hard af.

Theis shooting 28% from 3 pt territory has been disappointing.

Otherwise, I don't think center is our main issue. Kanter is fine as a backup big man... his virtues and drawbacks largely cancel out in such a role. We'll also get RWIII back from injury and contributing relatively soon.

Nor do I think our bench is a problem per se... rather, injuries have made the bench look worse than it is.

I agree with the above article that our lackluster shooting is what is weighing us down.

romeo over sekou now that brown is signed seems a little overkill.

But the Celtics salary Stucture makes it hard to make an impact deal without trading Hayward or smart.

Bertans seems to be a popular name bandied about.

That’s the guy to get. He fits.

how?

At what cost?
Wouldn't have to give up Smart or Hayward...

A late first and a spare piece or whatever.

Really depends on who else is going for him. Lots of people talking about Bertans and Covington.

True.

That said: objectively speaking, I don't really think it would be wise for any team to try to "win" a bidding war over Bertans... he has value certainly, but not much beyond the price I quoted above.

If I were the Celtics, I'd be willing to add one or two 2nd round picks to the price I just quoted... but I wouldn't go beyond that.

I agree. However, teams are often prisoners of the moment and will see Bertans and his excellent shooting as a savior to their woes. I could see a bunch of playoff teams engaging in a bidding war.

Well the Lakers have nothing to offer in a trade. Unless they plan on giving up their 2023 and 2025 1st round draft picks I guess.
