February 5th

I think it has become mop up duty for most schools.

Who is still out there and what is going to happen.
I know a lot of schools still have spots to fill.

Yea the new system really makes this day a lot less impactful. It is still a big day for a late push with some holdout recruits.

Just a few recruits out there, some have already committed (and maybe even signed) and are just waiting....for whatever reason

This is something i have never keep up with, so I have a question for the two of you. With this transfer portal thing, do the players have to Feb 5th to commit?
To theboardref, is LSU looking in this portal for a qb?

Not sure with the first question. Transfer portal is a brand new ball game. I don’t think so though, because Joe Burrow was signed later.

Second question, I think if the right guy is available yes. I hope we aren’t actively keeping spots open for one, but if we have one available we will take some type of transfer. With the new rules that those guys now count towards your 25 signees for the year it changes things.

The Houston qb, D’Eriq King is transferring and claims LSU is a frontrunner. Hope we don’t have the room for him, kid was the starter and quit 4 games into the season to redshirt so he could transfer. No class, no thanks.

Early signing has killed this off but there are a few prima donnas that like to wait until now so they can get more quon.

I think both are used and you have to know how many scholarships you have.

It's such a new thing I don't know how everyone is using it.

One legitimate excuse is, a kid is told on signing day he can’t sign because they need to see how many scholarships their are. So either he waits to sign with that team, or he waits to reopen his recruitment and figure out a plan B.

That’s true too.

I'm feeling grumpy today so I'll just ahead and say it: I don't like having two National Signing Days. Let these prima donnas sweat it out to February. Make them grow up a little. And prohibit "over signing" by teams.

Agree on King. I saw him several times. LSU can do better.

Gotta disagree here. The sooner you can lock these kids up, the more attention you can devote to other matters.

True.

Until they are signed, they are fair game for others. The more you sign early, the better.

Early enrollees are huge as well. Get them in spring practice and they have a leg up on other freshmen.

its really is amazing how dumb these kids are, they throw away all their leverage. I have no idea why a high 4/5 star kid would sign early. The best part is they sign early and then cry their position coach left. I don’t think the coaches imagined the first signing day would become the big day.

A few of these late picks are matters of grades and qualification. ESD is great in that it enables kids who were able to meet their graduation criteria to get to school and in the program nearly 6 months early.

I think we had 12 EE's and one grad transfer.

He wouldn't fit their offense whatsoever. His best spot would be someone like Michigan State who would rather run the ball than air it out, and really can't possibly get any worse. The expectations on him at LSU would be enormous, and he would undoubtedly fall well short.

Disagree, we got all ours signed except Grimes, before getting our yearly asskicking in the playoffs. Just 2 extra months to back of verbals in the old system.

Wait till you see last year’s OU class with a QB that can actually throw the ball. 3 of the top 5 WR’s depending on what service you follow.
