You didn't answer my question as to when the last time Minnesota vs. Utah was on national TV. :)

I think the big man matchup is interesting, so I want to know. Did this ever occur when both Gobert and Anthony-Towns were starters? Do we have to go back to the Al Jefferson, Paul Millsap, or Carlos Boozer eras?

I have watched maybe a total of two or three games on TV if you add bits and pieces together over the past few years. And every game I watch is on the local network. So I have no idea about national games, especially when it is in regard to a specific team.

We'll have to get the list of national TV scheduled games for the past few years, and see. :)

Yes, this won't account for in-season changes, but it's a decent starting point.

Do you mean "two or three games on national TV"? Or have you really just been watching bits and pieces of games, even on the local network, the past few years?

March 2, 2018 was the last time Minnesota vs. Utah was on national TV.

Let's see who won:

Minnesota Timberwolves at Utah Jazz Box Score, March 2, 2018 | Basketball-Reference.com

Towns didn't score or play much.

Gobert was awesome.

And so was Mitchell!

Gobert made most of his FTs too.

Apparently Towns was ejected before halftime:

I'll have to look for another game. Sure, this counted, but I want to see how both big men play if they play a normal full game.

So according to my notes, it's never happened.

National TV schedules:

2016-2017:

I went to that game with my family. I only remember because of the ejection. I don’t pay attention to nationally televised games, especially if I go to them. I won’t watch it on record to see if I am in the stands or not. I don’t really listen to national broadcasters much anyway or care what they think. And we got every Jazz game locally that year on the local channel. So I would never know that that was a big game unless you told me.

Thanks. I'm just very intrigued by the big men from both teams. So I'm surprised this matchup has only been on once since Towns entered the league.

I stopped getting league pass in 2015-2016, so after that, I can only watch the Jazz on national TV games.

I hope the Utes win but the last nine teams to lose in the PAC-12 Championship, including Utah last year, lost their upcoming bowl game. Here’s hoping the streak ends.

I don't know anything about how those teams play, but there's always a few players that don't want to play in a bowl game, because they are certain of their draft range. So things like that might swing the way a game goes.

It also appears Texas has 2 players suspended:

Texas sends two suspended players home from Alamo Bowl

And Texas didn't even make their conference championship game, like Utah. Texas record was 7-5.

Congrats to Minnesota.

I hate how the broadcasters called this game an "appetizer", just because it was an early game.

This was as good of a game as you'll see.

Seemed like Minnesota played a perfect 4th quarter, to take and hold the lead.

Apparently in 1893, they were afraid that the Rose Parade would scare horses on a Sunday, so they decided to never have the Rose Bowl on a Sunday.

Why no 2017 New Year’s bowls? Some horses in 1893.

I was wondering why the major Bowl games were on January 2nd in 2017, instead of New Year's Day.

The Sugar Bowl was boring, it wasn't close.

I got all 3 ESPN games right!

I don't understand how they can have a Gatorade shower on the field, with 13 seconds left? I know the other team can't catch up, but why isn't it like the NBA or NHL, where the clock has to run out before non-players can enter the field?

What is the official result of the offensive play during those final seconds? Is there a gain or loss recorded?

It depends on who has the ball. If the winning team has the ball, all they have to do is not snap it and the clock run out if the other team cannot call a time out. The other team can’t make the play start and they can’t make the clock stop and they have 40 seconds on the play clock before a team would have to snap the ball.

So you can enter the field of play until the ball is snapped. You can’t make a substitution after a certain point so there may be some gray area there, but there’s never going to be any enforcement. Or rather, if you make a substitution on offense, you have to allow the defense to make a substitution and there is some gamesmanship there and maybe some allowances you are making for the other team beyond the play clock.

If the losing team has the ball, I suppose they could try to snap the ball and call a delay of game penalty or too many men on the field penalty and they would go 5 yards forward and replay the down, but they wouldn’t be able to snap the ball and score a touchdown I don’t believe.

Sometimes, you can snap the ball and someone is offsides but did not have a clear path to the quarterback or a defender did not break the line of scrimmage way too soon, sometimes the play is essentially a free play. You could throw an interception and the interception would be nullified. If you gained yards, you can keep the play. The referee is supposed to throw the flag as soon as he notices a defender offsides. But if the ball is snapped before the flag is thrown, the play proceeds subject to the offense’s choice to keep the play or accept the 5 yards. This is not true if someone offense moves first.

If a player goes offsides but gets back to the right spot before the ball is snapped, it’s not a penalty unless it directly made an offense of player move in response. Everyone is trying to get an advantage of starting as soon as possible in relation to the snap, but I think the offense is worried enough about being called for a fall start that they are not going to jump at every single flinch. They know referees can get it wrong and so they have to be smart about it.

If the previous play was an incomplete pass, or a player went out of bounds, does the 40 second play clock start again, as soon as the offensive team gets into position?

So when you say "you can enter the field of play", you mean coaches can enter the field too?

They can be on there for 39 seconds, then step back out of bounds for the last second, and the offensive team can then snap the ball?

Thank you. Almost any non-crazy format that includes at least one indication of the date (or a date for a group of games) and then the teams with the second being the home team would work, as long as each game is on a separate line.

I would ask that if you do type the parentheses “)” after the game number, could you do periods “.” instead? That is if you’re typing it anyway. If you don’t want to number the games, you don’t have to. The most important thing is to have a prediction and then it would help me to have both teams listed so I can copy and paste yours and put my predictions.

What I usually do is copy what you have for that date and then paste it and then unbold everything. And then I bold what I think is going to happen. That way, I’m not copying your predictions.
