Well the movie isn’t slated until November so I’d say they don’t have to delay anything.

Yeah, they will, because November was the scheduled date accounting for time to complete the previous visual effects, but they're now going to redo them. The film has now been pushed back to Friday, February 14, 2020:

Taking a little more time to make Sonic just right.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a big hit, speeding past Pokemon: Detective Pikachu to break the videogame movie opening weekend record with $70 million!

Watching the end credits is a painful reminder that almost all of the Sonic games after the 90s were terrible. So Jim Carrey is perfect.

This is probably the best video game movie. Not sure what the competition is... Silent Hill? Mortal Kombat?

Good kids movie. Feels like the plot is a bit half baked but it's enjoyable.

That's how I felt about it.

Dumb yet enjoyable, it completely appealed to my younger side and overall I left happy. But yeah, other than Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 there's a pretty big dropoff.

The gist I've gotten is that Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Colors, and Sonic Generations are the three decent ones. Adventure is okay. They rest of the 3D Sonic games are some of the worst games on their various systems.

I think one of the reasons that Sonic the Hedgehog works as a kids movie is that a lot of the gags are good but they're derivative. It does the same gags from the recent Xmen movies with Quicksilver where he is so fast that it slows down time and he can mess with people. Also shows up in things like Futurama. If this is your first time seeing that, you might think its fun but if its the fourth time you've seen it then you know where they are going with this.

James Marsden as the main character is fitting. He is an every-man that he is just there to move the plot and he knows it. Jim Carrey feels a bit like a sped up Dr Evil. He tries to be relatable but he also doesn't really slow the movie down to do skits, either. The movie is almost entirely character driven. It doesn't even really want a story. It just happens.

I'd imagine this will be in the regular rotation on TV like Lego Movie and the newer Jumanjis. Not classics but there is enough star power to stick around the mainstream.
