So wake forest is sitting at 5-0. With 4 games they should win and will be favored in coming up. They’re wake forest, there is a high likelihood they blow it somewhere.

But if they are 9-0 going into the Clemson game. They beat Clemson.

clemson is a one loss team they are out right? Or do they stay ala Alabama not even making it to the acc title game.

There’s zero chance wake makes the CFP. Even winning the acc, right?

wake is 47 in espn power index. Espn FPI projects them right now to lose 4 games?

But they are 17th and 19th in the polls and can only keep climbing with wins and skyrocket beating Clemson.

If wake goes 13-0 they're in . There will never , ever , ever be an unbeaten P5 who is left out. Clemson should be out as their schedule sucks but if the P12 has a multi loss champ and you see some upsets in other league title games their name recognition gives them a punchers chance

You don't think they'd put a one loss Alabama in over undefeated Wake Forest?

Well the question would be a 1 loss Oregon. Assuming Bama wins the SEC with that loss you'd have ( for example )

1 loss SEC champ .
Ubbeaten / 1 loss B10 champ
Ubbeaten / 1 loss B12 champ .
1 loss P12 champ
Ubbeaten ACC champ

I can't see any way an ubbeaten P5 gets left out but I'd welcome it happening because we'd have an 8 team playoff next year

I was thinking 1 loss nonconf champ bama. Maybe losing to LSU in a very good game.

Undefeated OU, OSU, UGA/LSU....

It took 10 years after Auburn getting left out to get to a playoff. Don't think WF would cause overnight change

Bamas schedule isn't all that good this year but they're Bama so I couldn't rule it out . But I think the committee would be hard pressed to explain that one without throwing away every criteria they claim to utilize plus it's highly unlikely the B10, B12 AND SEC champ are all unbeaten

13-0 Wake is in.

There is no way in hell Wake goes 13-0.
This. With an undefeated conference champ P5 team the committee will pretty much have to put them in.

Subjective decisions only come with teams that have 1 loss. At that point the committee would put 2 one loss SEC teams in over WF.

'pretty much' ... We all know one loss bama is on a different level

They will fall ass backwards into the game and the committee likes them because they don’t embarrass.

But an undefeated P5 team being left out will blow up the playoff and they will have to expand it if that happens.

I think the committee does everything it can to keep it at 4 even if that means putting in a weak 4th team. They sort of did that in 2014 when they put FSU in and they got steamed rolled by Oregon. You just couldn’t leave FSU out as they won the championship the year before.

An undefeated WF gets in over a 1 loss Bama. Now a 1 loss WF would not get in over a 2 loss Bama but for that happen a lot of games have to be botched across all the conferences.

Undefeated will carry incredible weight and it should in a P5 conference.

The last time Wake Forest went undefeated was in 1895.
They went 0-0-1.

The End.

If Wake goes undefeated they are a lock. Their resume wouldn't be great by any means, but they would have a win over Clemson and assuming UVA, which would be 2 ranked wins. Then they would probably have another 4/5 wins over teams .500+. Honestly the only game that is a for sure loss is at Clemson, but if they were to somehow win that game and win the rest they are in.

Undefeated/1 loss SEC team
Ohio State/Penn State/Wisconsin
Oklahoma/Texas
Wake Forest

im not saying it happens, but look at their schedule, it is possible they are 9-0 going into clemson.

I mean i know because i made this thread they'll lose this week........but they are gonna be favored going forward.

The only sure loss on Wake’s schedule is Clemson, and they’ve been on a nice stretch these last few years. They’ll never make the playoffs, but Clawson has his team playing well, and has for a while now.

If I were to pick a favorite ACC team, it would probably be them

There is a signed 12-year agreement for a four-team playoff, and we are in the middle of the sixth year of that agreement. Nothing would change overnight. If it were to happen more than once, then they might meet and decide to adjust things going forward - but even then, it might just be expanding to a 6-team playoff starting in Year Nine.
