We are about a month out from College bball being back. My baseball team is done per usual. The hockey team blows so lets get the hoops talk going.

Teams you think may overachieve and underachieve

Ill start with 1 of each from the BE since that obviously is the conference I follow most

Seton Hall(underachieve)- Don't get me wrong the could definitely challenge for the conference title and be a top 15 team but what I don't get is all the preseason hype. Uh...this team was good offensively or defensively last year. The BE has 7 teams(and 3 presumably awful ones) that could challenge for a bid and SHU is the only one that you could argue doesn't excel on at least 1 side of the ball. Maybe it's because they return almost everyone? Just the Powell factor? The late BE run aided by Powell not being ejected? Willard finally learn to coach?? It's still a team that outside of Powell should struggle to score.

Providence(overachieve)- I think these guys may be a top 3 BE team. Diallo is a stud and maybe the best challenger for POY not named Howard or Powell. Reeves was a monster as a freshman last year pre injury. Duke should be only improved. They also have Pipkins as a key guard addition and Watson who is a load down low. We also know they will defend and that Cooley can make the most of what hes got. I think the friars could really surprise.

Lets hear it.

We agree on Providence!

I think your UL pick is also definitely going to be correct, just not seeing that as a top 5 squad. We will see though. Nwora is good.

As far as Seton Hall being ranked in the Top 15, who are you gonna put instead? They beat some good teams last year and they were a tournament team, return their whole team. Pretty much every other tourney team lost something.

As far as who is going to underachieve, there's a bunch of teams I think are ranked too high, including Louisville, and UVA, but again, who are you going to put instead?

I really do think UVA is too high though. I could see them being a bubble team.

As far who will be possibly really good, I think Xavier has a chance. Maybe Final 4 good. They have a lot of good talent and experience.

Just for the record, Providence was my pick to overachieve LAST year. How well did that work out?

I’m not fully talking about where they are ranked now tho.

I’m talking buzz. People are really high on Hall as like a clear cut BE top 2 team. But I just don’t see it. They could be. But the numbers don’t really point to it.

But again, of the 7 potential tourney teams in the BE the are the 1 team that doesn’t really rate out well on either end of the floor.

If the Marquette/SHu game is officiated correctly that’s a team going into the tourney with no momentum that then flamed out like the rest of the conference

Young and the Reeves injury killed them.

More experienced. Presumably Reeves is healthy. And another added experienced guard transfer.

I like the potential.

From a national perspective to overachieve I am going to go with Florida. I've seen them hovering around 8-10 range and I think they are going to be a 1 seed this season.

To underachieve I'll go with Oregon. I think they have a ton of talent, but I don't think they'll be a top 10 team next year. With that said if they get hot at the end of the year like they did last season, a S16 or E8 run isn't out of the question.

With what Tony Bennett has done in the past at UVA, he should be able to get them in the tourney pretty easily. But I can agree with about her round of 32 loss.

I think that's fair for Oregon. I don't think they are going to be anyone's pick for a FF this year, but expectations should be on at least making the S16.

I think they could be similar to last year, except not quite as bad during the regular season. Somewhere between a 4-6 seed, and then Altman has a usual good run in the tournament.

Expectations are way too high for Michigan State I can see them being disappointing because that’s what we do.

If Langford is out for the year, I'm not even sure what to think of this team.

Somebody has to be #1, lol...

I think he's out til Mid January. He'll miss key games against UK, Seton Hall, Duke, Maui Invitational(potentially KU), Michigan and Purdue.

Well, they didn't need him in the tournament last year.

Texas Tech to underachieve
don't know how i would measure
underachievement -

returning only one starter
and only two others with any pt -
essentially, startin over -

i know tech is ranked at 13 now,
but i have no idea what to expect
from this years squad -

i know tech has a great coach -

is underachieving
not makin it back to the finals ??
if so, then yes
tech will likely underachieve -

the journey starts tonite!

wreck em!!
