USMNT to hire Gregg Berhalter as head coach, ending months-long search for Bruce Arena replacement
The 45-year-old will become the 37th coach in USMNT history and the youngest since Steve Sampson in 1995

I know

I was hoping Tab Ramos would get the nod

I don't understand why you wait this fucking long just to go with a guy in the US Soccer/MLS system. It sounds like they barely interviewed anyone, especially outside candidates. If you're going that route, then Tab Ramos would make the most sense considering he's had some good success with the Under teams and many of those guys are now coming onto the National team

What a fucking joke. All that progress US soccer made just to piss it away with stupid decision after stupid decision. Fuck those motherfuckers.

So apparently they only "interviewed" two candidates and it really just sounds like Gregg was gonna get the job from the start because his brother is the COO of US Soccer

What a crock of steaming bullshit. And they wonder why everyone considers them a joke. At least teams like England, Italy, etc try to move in the right direction to make things better, but the USMNT just proved they have no intention of ever changing their elitist country club mentality.

Not a fan of Tab after he screwed the youth game with his birth year mandate.

They just aligned it with the rest of the world. God forbid USMNT ever do anything the same as sucessfule teams.

at younger ages kids want to play with their friends. transitioning from school year to birth year is killing teams in younger ages. you need more kids playing, not less.

The problem isn't kids playing, there are plenty, and stats show youth soccer is one of the most if not the most played sport in the country. The problem id up the ladder and US Soccer doing nothing to develop talent and staying with the same pay to play country club mentality, i.e continuing to do the same shit and expecting different results.

i certainly agree with that however, pay to play also limits the number of kids playing. more kids in the pipeline is better, not worse.

i had two full teams playing 9v9 in the same age group before the birth year mandate went down, 24 players. i lost 6 kids because they could not longer play with their buddies. that forced me to cut some players because I could not find enough game time for a 9v9 team of 18. Granted some of these kids were not tearing it up on the field but they still had time to develop.

that is one story from one coach in one age group from one club. i have heard the same thing over and over and over. some clubs have given up trying to field teams in certain ages. it sucks.

all the other changes they made are spot on. the screwed the pooch with the age thing.

It's like waiting all year for Christmas morning, waking up early, running downstairs, unwrapping your present, only to find a pair of socks.

Can we fire him yet? This team is so fucking trash.

Like seriously, do they even know basics? I don't see this many lazy passes, especially among the back defenders (which results in an immediate turnover) in youth under 10 games. Put some zip on your fucking passes and stay in position!

I agree. Didn't you just know Sargent was going to miss that penalty too. Ugh.

I didn't watch. Had a gut feeling about this one.

So is Pulisic a GREAT player or just a good US player?
