Since there was nothing else on TV, I decided to watch the CFL game that was on. It was actually pretty good. It was Calgary Stampeders vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Calgary's win streak vs Hamilton was the 2nd longest streak against an opponent in CFL history. I think Calgary was the only team Jeremiah Masoli had yet to score a TD against.

Hamilton won an exciting game and Masoli scored his TD in the 4th. What sucks is I am pretty sure many P5 teams can handle some of these CFL teams. It is not as fast and hard-hitting as the NFL, but it is live football that helps in the off-season some.

It's fun and it's football during the summer. They tried to expand into the US 20 (30?) years ago and it didn't work. It should have.

Baltimore Stallions (1994-95)
Birmingham Barracudas (1995)
Las Vegas Posse (1994)
Memphis Mad Dogs (1995)
Sacramento Gold Miners (1993-94)
San Antonio Texans (1995)
Shreveport Pirates (1994-95)

Nothing screams Canadian football like these franchises. What were they thinking? By 1996 things were back to "normal" with the 9 Canadian teams.

Also, why does 67% of the league (6 of 9) make the playoffs? 4 is more than fair. Last season, I would've had it like this:
(4)WPG (10-8) @ (1)CGY (15-3)*
(3)OTT (11-7)* @ (2)SKN (12-6)
*division winner

Simple.

Why can't they get an even number of teams? They can't rustle up a 10th Canadian?

Doug Flutie the GOAT of the CFL. Hell even Kapernick could probably get a starting job there, Manziel not so much

I'm not big on CFL lore anymore.

But there have been better.

Warren Moon for one.

Before him Joe Kapp, Pete Liske (Iggles). Coaches too.

The money is in the NFL. And the CFL game seems odd, 3 downs, 12 men, rouges, pre-snap motion all over, huge field....

But the guys who are really good in the CFL are really good. Not NFL really good but..... almost NFL good enough. Cameron Wake for example.

I don't watch it anymore. I simply don't have time. But it's a real league.
