I'm fine with 18 and play all 18, 18 and play 16, or 18 and play less than 16. From a purely business point of view it doesn't make sense for the NFL putting so much money into stadia and getting so little use out of them. I'd be ok with a 20 game season with a 14 game maximum per player.

That's a great point. i didn't read the article did they say that? Look at the Giants. For about a 3 year stretch their backup QBs were pathetic because Eli never gets hurt. A rule like this would cause them to have to completely restructure their team.

2 games in an NFL season is huge. It's 11% of an 18 game season and we are going to force teams to sit their best players? This will benefit the good teams that can sit their guys the last couple of games of the season and be huge when a situation arises like GB having to sit Rodgers and Adams in week 18 against an Atlanta team with both Ryan and Julio that they are battling for the last wild card spot. And what happens when you sit your LT and your QB gets killed, especially if you already lost your swing Tackle for the season due to injury.

So as a fan you would be fine in buying tickets ahead of time and then going to a game and they announce the day of Gurley, Goff, Woods and Donald will not be playing but they are healthy...they have to sit due to only being able to play a max 14 or 16 games. Honestly, that sounds like an awful idea and a problem.

If this happens I wonder how they'd do the schedule. With 18 games they could conceivably do what MLB used to do (no inter-league) until the World Series. Play your division twice (6 games) and the other 3 divisions within your conference once (12 games). This scenario has been mentioned before. However, if they did that the Cowboys wouldn't get to play the Texans every four years....or the Bucs vs Dolphins...or Giants vs Patriots, etc. DAMN. Would this give ammunition to the ones who would favor.....REALIGNMENT??? (evil laughter)

Fucking stupid. The number of games is perfect. If you're going to do something like this just add another week in the season for 18 total and then give every team two bye weeks. Still 16 games per team.

Really easy solution. IDK why they gotta try to fuck everything up here.

It would just require coaches to determine which games are the least important for his stars to play in. Mix and match them, don't make them all sit in the same games. Sprinkle them in here and there. It would require a larger roster if you are voiding the use of potentially 46 players not capable of being in 2 full games.
