Got a couple of racks of spare ribs on the smoker for dinner tonight. When these are done I'll be smoking up the pork bellies I cured for my homemade bacon.

Also, the wife took me out this morning shopping for my Father's Day gift. She wanted to get me an electric smoker to compliment my Smoke Hollow 44" propane smoker I currently use.
I had to choose between a Traeger or a Masterbuilt. I chose the Masterbuilt Digital 40" w/remote control.

It will be delivered next week. Might try my hand at some homemade kielbasa or brats on its maiden voyage.

I'm debating on getting a new electric smoker, I'm leaning towards one of these two.

Both of those are similar to the two brands & styles that I had to pick from. I went with the upright Masterbuilt with my future in mind. I know that we will be moving when our lease is up and I didn't want to have to lift that heavy ass Traeger into my truck.

I am smoking brisket and pork shoulder for my son's wedding reception in September. I think their guest list has over 200 names on it. Between my propane smoker and the new electric one I may be able to get it all done in one day long session.

@Tomhusker .

The Masterbuilt is the same one I went with last year and have been pretty happy with it. The only thing I've had issues with is the tube where wood chips are added. As the temps cause some expansion, it is tougher to reload chips without twisting and pushing harder than your really want to and the thin aluminium at the end of the tube got bent. I was able to modify it with some plyers in the middle of a cook, but check on yours in between cooks while it's cool to make sure everything is still straight.

I won't be using the chip tube. I will be using pellets with an A-MAZE-N Pellet Smoker that allows me to get a solid 6-12 hours of continuous smoke (depending on the amount of pellets used) without having to reload pellets.
I recommend getting one to anyone with an electric smoker. Even propane smokers can use them with some modifications to increase air flow.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just ordered one with their Pitmasters choice pellets to give a try. I've been holding off on doing a brisket mainly because I'd probably have to start it overnight and this should let me sleep without having to refill the chips every 45 minutes. Will grab a torch from a local store to help light it.

For best results, remove the chip tray and adjust the tube in and out to control air flow.

I'm in a holding pattern myself. I called off my Memorial Day brisket cook...had some family issues that took me off the grill for most of the weekend.

Thanks...all is well with me/wife/kids...wife's dad is not in the best shape these days so trying to support her I didn't want to be tied to a long cook so I tabled it.

My view on boats is a lot like pets, I love'em as long as they belong to somebody else....lol. My boss has a nice boat and I've been on the lake with him a few times on it, great times.

I've been saying it for years now that I need to step up and get an electric or a propane for the winter time.
I use my off set stick burner spring on to late fall ( until I can't sit out in the cold any longer)

I'm now in a similar holding pattern after the wife got a call from the nursing home to get her permission to call in hospice for her grandmother who has Alzheimer's (my wife is only family member remaining and is both medical POA and executor of the estate). I also have a funeral for my great aunt this weekend, so if I do anything on the smoker, it won't be a long cook.

Did get some nice ribeyes and filets yesterday that I threw on the griddle that came out great.
