Oh I love watching the grunt work being done by a true NT. Wilfork still one of my favorite players.

Suh was doubled much less in that Ram D than anywhere else. He may have been their 4th or 5th best defensive player.

It looks like he was their 3rd best defensive player. Donald was the best easily. John Johnson was the 2nd best barely ahead of Suh. He was a big part of that team, the defense overall wasn't very good though. Average pass defense and below average run defense. Also, 20th in points allowed.

Maybe you watched a lot more Rams games than I did, but the position is simply not a stat machine...we've both seen it with two of the best NTs to play in the NFL so from a stat perspective, he probably was the 4th or 5th best DEF....agree with you there.

Historically it's a grunt work position with not much glamor...I know it was solely because of the contract that he even played there.

He won't get $10M from Bill Belichick. Vet min. is what BB will offer and that's it.

There are better options still available like Suh who hasn't been able to get an eight figure offer from anyone. McCoy might think about a little less.......TB did offer him half of his salary.

Suh is not a better option and even BB can't get away with vet min in this case. But I do now agree the days of $10 mil per have come and gone for McCoy.

He's been playing on under talented defenses with whack coaches. He can still contribute.
He would most likely be a serviceable player, but his asking price is way too high. It is the NFL, so somebody will pay it.

I didn't watch every game live, but I did watch most replays on game pass.
No, DTs very rarely put up gody numbers. If you look back over his career his numbers aren't bad. He doesn't get to the QB or RBs in the backfield like he used to. My contention is when he played in Det and Mia he was the focus of opposing teams offensive coordinators. He's no longer that guy. Again playing along side Donald, Brockers and LBs like Littleton his numbers should've been better and he certainly shouldn't have disappeared in so many games.

I think he gets a 2 yr. deal at 8-9 million per.

He's no longer that guy.

I'm not real sure what his numbers should've been in LA, but I agree 100%...he's a complementary player now and I think that's what teams will look to pay him like, but as a starting 43 DT starting he's going to make more than we expect or think he should get.

Really was a stunner that MIA gave him that FA contract after seeing what Haynesworth did...Aaron Donald is not a normal DT, he effects the QB much like a top tier edge player.

Generally speaking you don't give interior DL $100 mil contracts. The ROI is just not going to justify it.

DL is where I'll spend extra money easy.

The Bucs can find that money no problem. They're just dumb.

Problem with this way of thinking is.
You can only have one DT trying to wreak havoc in the back field. (which obviously was Donald)
So if you are the other DT no matter what your talent is. Your job should be to be the anchor.
So unless there is some kind of stat or metric saying Suh wa failing at his job getting gouged in the run or whatever.
I say he did his job & did what the Rams brought him to do.
(BTW I dont like the guy either)

Players should be judged on the job they are asked to do.
Not by stats or whatnot.

You don't pay a guy that kind of money to be just a big body run stopper. Way too many guys out there can do that for a lot less. Certainly one of the reasons LA didn't hold onto him.
