Pretty Meh. Will be interesting to see what follows the One X. Wont be upgrading all 4 (gaming family) right away either way.

They're releasing a version of the X without a disc drive soonish. I have to imagine Microsoft's long-term plan is to be PC based after buying Steam and slowly integrating cross platform play.

I never buy physical games, unless it is something i have to buy physically, like when i got the family Rockband 4 bundle with the whole kit of drums microphone guitar and game thing, or rocksmith for real guitars... disney infinity and skylanders too. Beyond games that have physical components i have bought all digitally. This is also due to game sharing i mean when you have 4 xboxs you dont want to buy 4 discs so buying 2 digital copies is often cheaper. lack of disc drive wont bother me though the Home theater crowd buying for 4k movies might have an issue with it

I considered buying Xbox one X for the 4k dvd player and a new controller...glad i resisted the urge. Ended up getting a samsung 4k dvd player for half the cash... used it for 4k a total of once. but hey if i need it... i got it...

You're preaching to the choir about digital downloads. Game sharing on the XBOX has to be one of the major advantages it has over other consoles.

I got the 1X because of the HP under the hood it removed frame rate lag i was getting in ESO plus it is just better. I have it hooked up to a 4k tv but dont often run my games in 4k the enhancements for being more powerful going from no 1x to 1x enhanced is already a huge improvement over regular games i keep it at 1080 for the extra HP to go to performance :D

Movie wise ive watched a few 4k movies, was pretty meh

xbox one x and windows 10 are very similar and that gap is closing, microsoft is working to make games cross platform moving forward.... and thats bad news to console players.

No doubt, plus i like the social structure of xbox live for gaming though more pc games are integrating voice chat so you dont need teamspeak or ventrillo or discord to communicate things i was using in the early 2000's (vent 2002) shouldnt be the norm still nearly 20 years later

IMO the future of gaming will be simply a computer set up since that's all a console really is. Since consoles can't keep up with the innovation in computers I don't see them as being something that sticks around much longer. Especially when you consider that the last new console from Microsoft was simply a hardware upgrade of their previous one and I'm pretty sure Playstation did the same thing as well. The next iterations look to be the same story too.

the 1x is actually cheaper and better than you can get in PC form for same $$. Console gaming draws me in because it is also far less often to be hacked. PC gaming is just upgrading hardware but lots of games require hardware upgrades, console you are guaranteed a window where your console will play all games that come out for a period of time. Since developers will make the game for the console. Level playing field great social atmosphere and the 1x is almost as good as my PC that i spent way more money on.

There has always been a "US vs THEM" with PC and Console, each serves a purpose and i think will continue to do so.

Isn't it just a matter of whether your hardware supports the ecosystem? The us vs. them thing to me is silly since all we're trying to do is play some games. I only play on the XBOX because I can play with my friends. If I couldn't, I might already be using the computer to game.

Well yes and no. At least in my experience gaming on the PC you "CAN" physically load the game and it will run but be very unplayable even on minimum settings if you do not keep upgrading. The same game might come out on console toward the end of the consoles life cycle and the developer will reduce graphical load etc to make it compatible. For pc there is usually not enough options available to dumb it down enough.

Reminds me of when D3 came out on console and my buddy couldnt play it on the PC he had but was able to on his 360. He tried playing the game at the lowest of all settings and couldnt do it on PC but was much more fluid on the 360. While being a version of w10 helps developers it isnt exactly just a pc game for xbox either.

Developers tailor to the console they are putting it on i guess is the point im making.

Ive bought more games for Console lately than i have PC. I enjoy playing on the xbox i like the xbox live service as well, it is because of the LFG built in and everything else that comes with it.

There are tons of console games that are unplayable after not much time has passed as well though. Most developers stop their support because it doesn't help them make a profit. Before the lawsuit Friday The Thirteenth could have been a lot better but the developers basically abandoned the game.

I am not saying a specific game will continue to be supported. but that you will not have to upgrade the console for the Newest of games to come out. That is a major pull of consoles. Though i would expect a 1x being as new as it is to survive quite a while. Im just saying a brand new game that might otherwise require a hardware upgrade on PC wont require it on my 1x for quite some time
