I haven't owned a truck since gettin' city-fied. My last one was an 87 Dakota 5-speed. I was young then and didn't need no old man's step-stool version of a tailgate.

You tell me, you're the one still staring at'em 10 days after I posted.

Uhm...no.
Was vacationing in Florida. Just got back in the saddle and was immediately disgusted by your inability to keep your inner Chester off the Hoop.

What's even worse than these fancy tailgate step ladders is the size of the bed that comes standard on a truck nowadays. Like I said, my buddy just got a new Silverado. The bed options are (roughly):
Standard - 6.5 ft
Short - 5.75 ft
Long - 8 ft
Long is only available with a standard cab. So if you want an extended cab or crew cab, you can't get a regular 8 ft bed.
The short bed truck is essentially a really tall car with an open trunk area.

My other buddy has a newer Ram 3500 long bed. My old Chevy 3500 can still haul more hay than his can, and it pisses him off since my truck is older and has been paid off since the day I bought it.

You know, if it weren't for trucks we wouldn't have tailgates.

She's a dyke, right?

Should I care?
I like puss, so I can understand the attraction.
If I were to ever win the billion dollar lotto and she became remotely interested in me and she brought in extra puss...

Not a bad situation to be in...

Saw the first one of these today, driving down the road. GMC with a new tag.

Saw the second one yesterday.

Kinda weird driving up on it with that huge seam in it.

And I looked at that Dodge tailgate. Impressive. But not sure why I need a swinging 60/40 tailgate. Seems like I'd bang it on something right off the bat.

It makes sense. 50/50 and you may hit a trailer. At least with 60/40, you could open up the smaller side fully. Also if they centered it, the handle and logo would be off center...and that may look kinda stupid.

trucks are so high off the ground now, we are getting to a point where it's a climb up into the bed. there is a need for a step of some sort.

it just depends on what a person wants from their truck. almost all trucks these days are very nice inside and can come loaded with everything. some people want a truck option more than a truck. for the twice a year they pick up a couple of sheets of plywood or maybe a bag of cement, but beyond that, the truck is the family car.
Exactly why my 4x4 is a Ranger with the off road package. I can simply slide into the seat when I get into it. Also loading the bed or putting a bike on is easier. And even better I still have basically the same ground clearance the elevated trucks have and a lower center of gravity.
