Well, looks like another season is upon us. Probably going to be a long season again but at least there might be some hope for the future as there's actually a clear direction they want to go in and have the right approach to get there.

Why Manny Machado chose the Padres over the White Sox

Manny, are you seriously this stupid? The Orioles were a complete dumpster fire last year and needed a change of direction. They weren't winning games with you in the lineup, so they might as well get something for you since you weren't coming back this upcoming season to start with. If they didn't trade you, you probably would've been whining and bitching about rotting on a team going nowhere. Heck, I think that they should've traded you during the 2017 trade deadline and started this rebuild a year earlier and possibly have gotten better prospects.

on davis makes no sense to me . while I like santander hays is the man . this team is going to be a 500 team . it's going to be obp , avg and speed on offense and the D will be speedy . the D will make the pitching better and it has some good arms coming soon . watch for knight to pop this year in the minors .

let davis go.

Modest proposal of the day:

If the Orioles organization simply isn't willing to eat Davis' contract, why not use him as a reverse Shohei Ohtani? In other words, Davis could be the designated mop-up reliever in games where he's not in the batting lineup: In case of a blowout, he would be asked to pitch until his arm falls off (to avoid burning the bullpen). And if Davis objects... too bad. "You have a major league contract, not a first-base starter contract."

breaking news the o's are still stupid with hays going down . the minor league teams are gonna be good . rickard will never be a full time starter . so if it is for Santander to play ok he has a future in the majors .

This should be the "why not" year. If it works, go with it, if it doesn't, oh well, not like we're going to be competing for anything other than the 1st pick in the draft again anyways. If Davis continues putting up horrible #'s again this year, they absolutely need to eat the money and get him off the roster and move Mancini to first. I guess the good news is is that if Davis is pitching, he won't be hitting and strike out his every 2 or 3 at bats.

Is this one of those things having to do with service time (like what Toronto is likely going to be doing with Vlad Jr for the first 2-3 weeks of the season)? I figure they'll keep Hays down in Norfolk for a little while and then eventually bring him up when it won't affect his service time and we can keep him another year.

they want him to have more time at aaa . that is the shit they are pushing . his clock has started . my thing is this they have a lot invested in diaz so why not find out if hays is the real deal . rickard and the other 2 vets are all 4th outfielders .

Chris Davis in midseason form. 0-3 with 3 strikeouts.

This is going to be a long season...

Game 1: L, 2-7
Game 2: W, 5-3
Game 3: 7-4 as of right now (Top of 9th inning, 0 outs, bases loaded)

Overreaction of the weekend:

Looks like the "relay team" approach for handling the pitching staff has been working so far? (Granted, n = 3 is a tiny sample size... but I'll take it as a proof of concept.)

Are the O's ever going to be 1 game over .500 for the rest of the season?

Our pitching hasn't been terrible. Chris Davis has.
