6 game losing streak, not trading for a goalie is looking like a bigger mistake by the day. That being said the whole team looks like shit so it’s not the only problem

Step away from the ledge, man. We have been without some key players (Karlsson, Pavelski and Simek) the last 4 games, Karlsson for a month. Also, Nashville and Vegas are playoff teams with healthy rosters. Put that into perspective. Also, these aren't blowout losses. They are 1-2 goal games aside from that horrid loss to Vegas. We aren't a healthy team right now, hopefully we get Pavelski back before the playoffs start but it seems like Simek and Karlsson are gone for the year. Trading for a goalie isn't the main problem. I'm fine with losing right now, no matter how frustrating it is right now, as long as we can get it together and start winning during the playoffs. We have 3 games left against playoff teams (Vegas, Colorado and Calgary). So, in my opinion, if we go 3-3 during the last 6 games, I'm fine with that. Vegas is 5 points behind us so we have some breathing room, but we definitely need to go at least .500 to end the season. Fans are forgetting we have had multiple losing streaks this season. 4 game losing streak in November, 3 game losing streak in December AND January. Also, when we go on a long winning streak, we usually struggle for a few games after that.

5 game winning streak from 12/8-12/18
- Went 2-1-2 to end 2018
7 game winning streak to start the year
- Went 0-3 the next 3 games
6 game winning streak from 1/22-2/11
- Went 3-3-1 the next 7 games
6 game winning streak from 3/1-3/12
- Currently 0-5-1 in the last 6 games

Take this losing streak with a grain of salt.

Your opinion can be im standing on the edge and my opinion is that the problem has been a season long one in regards to goaltending and that no matter how far you put your head in the sand the problem is t going away.

Goalies and teams will have ups and downs throughout a season typically one picks up the other it that hadn’t been the case this season. The team is consistently bailing out the goaltending and the goaltending maybe on the season combined has had a strong 15
Games, that’s not going to cut it come playoff time

Not a 7 game losing streak for Jones. It's 5 for Jones, 2 for Dell. Dell got the loss against Vegas and Anaheim. Once again, Jones isn't the issue. Jones had 5 of the 6 wins in our 6 game win streak and in those 5 games, he allowed 2.4 goals per game. I ask you again, what goalie out there would you have wanted us to trade for? Your pick of Lundqvist was a joke. I'm sorry dude but I tried to tell you that earlier in the year. Do you see him right now? He's 6-12-3 this year and 1-6 this month and has allowed 4 goals per game in his last 5 games.

Our problem is injuries, defense and goaltending and in that order. Our defense is playing like their on fucking cruise control or something. If their plan is to play like that and get healthy for the playoffs, fine. But I don't think this is part of the plan.

Lundqvist is on a terrible team jones on is on a top 3 team. Lundy .907 sv% Jones .896 sv%. Lundy on the sharks is likely sitting at a .920, which like translates into 5 more wins Atleast.

The other differences Jones is routinely getting beat by clean point shots and. Blast off the wing from on top of the circles to the blocker side and 7 hole glove side, for a 6’4 goalie that should never happen. He has been a technical train wreck all season and that’s got nothing to do with injuries to the rest of the team. Typically when teams struggle the goalies bail them out, and when the goalie struggles the team bails him out, this season the team had bailed out both goalies all year long but not once have the goalies done it for the team.

You seem so confident about it not being Jones we should make a friendly bet, no excuses on injuries either if he’s as good as you claim he is he should be covering up those mistakes being made.

Lundqvist is an aging goalie. He's gonna be 37 next year. He is 18-21-10 this year on a bubble playoff team. The Rangers are 7th in the league in goals allowed and Lundqvist has allowed 151 of the 254 goals allowed by the team. Ludqvist has a .907 SV% to Jones' .896. That's only a .011% difference. We aren't taking a huge gap between the two. Also, if we did trade for him, what's your plan for when he retires, which might be at the end of this year? He's got 2 years left on a more expensive contract that we would probably have to take on. Gotta look at the bigger picture of these things and not just the stats.

Changing the goalie doesn't change that our defense is swiss cheese right now. Changing the goalie doesn't stop the key injuries plaguing this team right now. Pavelski, who is our captain and our leading scorer, and Karlsson, who is 2nd on our team in assists, are not playing right now. That's HUGE to this team. The goalies haven't bailed out the team? Jones has 3 shutouts and Dell has 2, we are 16-8 in 1 goal games. Aside from shootout loses, IDK what more you want them to do to bail out the team.

I'm very confident that Jones isn't the main problem with this team, but I'm not betting anything on this team when it has 2 key guys injured and a defense that is swiss cheese right now. Is this Jones' best year? Not by a long shot, but he's a small piece of what is wrong with this team.

I also want to reiterate something I said to you earlier in the year. You are ALWAYS quick to jump on here when there is a problem, but where were you during that 6 game win streak to praise Jones and Dell? That's right, you were here, but you were snarky and sarcastic about the success of Jones and his play.

Oooh Jones with a solid 18 save performance so far and a .857% sv so far tonight so his last 5 games prior to this his sv% was .941, .700, SO, .826, .875, and tonight he’s at .857. That’s how not to win a Stanley cup.

Combined sv% over that stretch is .868 that is horrendous consider the shut out and the .941 game

Good job Jones you got above a .878 sv% into a .900% granted the Av’s were just shooting to shoot but against Jones that’s a high % play

Yet, when the team is doing really bad, you are so active on here it's pathetic.

This just in! Martin Jones still sucks, solid numbers though 4 goals on 12 shots and it should be 5 if not for Vlasic. Solid .667 sv%. Not winning a cup with this guy in net

Well no goalie no cup this year, not gonna win in the playoffs with scores of 8-7 all the time

6 game losing streak, not trading for a goalie is looking like a bigger mistake by the day. That being said the whole team looks like shit so it’s not the only problem

And that's just from the last 3 months. Be a better fan, man. I'm done talking with you about this. See you in the playoffs.

I’ve been calling out jones suspect lay probably since November maybe December.

Being a better fan has nothing to do with turning a blind eye to the glaring problem that is the goaltending.

Has there been some defensive gafs, yes especially early in the season when the forwards decided they aren’t going to help the D. Throw in Vlasic and Braun absolutely horrendous it didn’t help. But it did magnify the problem that Jones has been terrible and has continued to be horrible.

Like I posted early at points during the season as during the playoffs the goalies have to bail the team out when they are playing poorly it hasn’t happened this year nor is there reason to believe it’s going to change

Being a better fan does have something to do with only appearing on the team forum when the team is doing badly.

Put your money where your mouth is

Like I said, I'm not putting money down on anything to do with a team that has two missing holes that used to be filled by team leaders in assists and goals. This team is unpredictable right now and that's missing two key pieces to the puzzle that made this team as good as it was for most of the season. There's no sensical reason for me to do that.

If you’d dig further then a couple of months I was posting when they were doing well also.

If by pointing out Jones technically deficiencies like his lead leg lifting off the ice any time he does a hard lateral push which opens up the 5 hole is snide, then so be it.

Not to mention getting beat blocker side routinely from the off wing on top of the circles, I can live with that. I’m merely pointing how terrible he’s been and why he’s been so bad.

You throw numbers around but it doesn’t fully represent what the problem really is.

Karlsson has been out of the line up for 20+ games not to mention during that stretch Kane was out and they were still winning. Injuries aren’t excuse for this team with its depth. Ryan and Heed are very serviceable defensemen, are they Karlsson no, but you still have Vladic and Burnzie.

All I’m seeing is excuses and fanboying nothing based in reality

Don't need/want to, to be honest. How a fan treats their team during the bad times says a whole lot about that fan.

Pointing out how Jones had a "bad game" during a win and not saying anything positive about that win says a whole lot about that fan. Also, not being here to proudly talk about shutouts says a whole lot about that fan.

I've thrown a whole lot more than just numbers around. You've just given me 1 solution to the goalie problem and I've given you a whole lot more than facts to support why it's not a good idea or good move. You've yet to address them.

We're without our captain and leading goal scorer. Vlasic has a +/- of 1 in the last 8 games with 1 goal in that time and no assists in the last 3 games. Vlasic is not a good backup plan for Karlsson. I'll give you Burns.

All I’m seeing is excuses and fanboying nothing based in reality

You think this team would be losing the way they are with Karlsson and Pavelski on the ice? Because I don't think so at all.

They just did again last night, it’s not shocking. Now they are only missing Karlsson, are they playing well collectively no.

However the goaltending has been consistently bad all season like I’ve stated repeatedly.

The soloution was to make a move for a competent goalie wether it had been kinkaid, Miller or Lundy. To Atleast stop the bleeding, that’s where Dwill failed. Jones has all season to workout of this slump and it ain’t happening.

When the team is playing well they can Atleast cover up jones mistakes by scoring 5 goals a night. Now that the offense has dried up and they need a save they aren’t getting it but it’s been a season long problem.

I hope Jones can “turn it on” this next week but I’m not holding my breath

Good article explaining why Jones is so terrible, he’s always been shit blocker side and his lateral movement has always been sloppy and suspect and he comes across flat. It does touch on some of the defensive problems which I’ve agreed with throughout but the biggest problem still is Jones

Greg Balloch on why Sharks should start Dell
