Of the Giants.

I mean they got an incredible offer and they had to pull the trigger.
They are in rebuild mold and everyone knows that.
And lets be honest Odell was a straight up circus show.

I don't get why the media is questioning this move?

Well they set themselves up nicely to get the #1 pick in 2020, if that's what you mean.

Not only that, they have two first rounders this year as well.

The oline is still a work in progress, wide outs and TE young, there secondary needs help.

I mean, aside from losing their best pass rusher, best defensive back, and best WR, and not having a QB in place for the future, they're fine. As long as they hit on every draft pick the next two years, they'll be right in the mix in 2021.

Isn't Jabrill on the last year of his rookie contract?

I agree.
They were just gonna waste money paying Odel, who they were at odds with anyways.
They take a one year cap hit & lose odel. Who they were gonna lose after the contract anyways. After paying another 75 mil.
Media just sees losing a top player.
If I am the fans & some older vets that are stuck on the team I might not be so happy, but this is a cost saving move long term & removes an issue. They do deserve all the crap they are hearing for not getting a QB last season though.

I know but I honestly think they weren't in love with any of them, well maybe except Mayfield.
Why not go get the next great RB for your franchise. I know RB's are a dime a dozen, but that kid he's to damn special

Most logical people see that this is best for the Giants.

If you are going full rebuild-mode, that's what you do. Get rid of everything that will hinder it.

I wouldnt complain about Barkley either.
But they didnt even look for an Eli replacement at all last year. Draft. FA, anywhere.

If they get their QB this year, they will look back at this if they don't get a #1 WR to fill his shoes. Especially if the Browns, no less, go on to greater things due in part to Junior.

If they were in 'full rebuild' they'd have already cut their QB. That's what some of the media is questioning. If you're going to hit reset then get rid of Eli.

It might be best long-term, but they need to do almost everything right in the next couple of years. They're still on the hook for a boatload to Ogletree and Janoris Jenkins, who are extremely overpaid players. The offensive line might be OK, as I believe Solder will be solid and Hernandez/Zeitler is a really good guard tendem, but if Barkley were to get hurt, their offense is absolutely fucked. Sterling Shepard is currently their #1 WR, and he's above average at best. Engram is talented but very fragile. And that's basically their whole offense.

Not only that, but have his frickin replacement on the roster already. I get that they may be tanking for Tua, but I think he's gonna need some time to develop, which means they're gonna need to let Eli retire and then bring in another vet just to be a bridge.

well if they can resign Jabrill this is a good trade for them. But with OBJ gone, Saquon is going to run into more stacked boxes than an Amazon warehouse employee at Christmas time

Honestly, I don't see a problem with dumping Odell and getting max value for him. They need so many pieces and stockpiling picks is the best way to retool quickly, I think. The whole Eli thing is a little baffling at times but maybe they have their sights on a QB that can watch and learn for a year.

So you think they are tanking? If so, why did they re-sign Beckham last year, and draft a running back instead of a QB?

I think they had no strategy, are now trying to change strategy, and doing a poor job of maximizing the value of the assets they had before tearing down and rebuilding.

Why sign Corey Coleman to a first round RFA tender? The guy was cut from the Patriots practice squad a few months ago. He has zero market value.

No, sorry. The Giants don't have a plan. They don't have a clue. They are totally lost. Their GM thinks this is 1995. His idea for how to build a football team is hopelessly outdated.
