Excellent, did it help you understand the difference between a former player and current employee talking up their team compared to their employer?
You keep going back and forth between bias and conflict of interest and you are confusing yourself. Or you don't know the difference.

He actually somehow thinks Desmond Howard has no direct connection to michigan football. LOL

He frequently is involved with UM football functions, so you tell me
So he is not an employee of the University of Michigan which makes it a completely different situation as Urban. Desmond and Herbie are similar situations.

I don’t see anything wrong with it but the comparisons to Desmond are completely off base.

LOL oh okay. FYI, he and Herbie aren't comparable. Herbie is nowhere near as involved with OSU football as Desmond is with michigan. Not only that, but Herbie is notorious for doing everything possible to not appear to be a homer while Desmond has no problem with it.

No, him being an employee of the university makes absolutely no difference. His compensation is not tied to the football team's success, which only leaves his fandom and love for the program as something that could make him biased, something that is exactly the same with Desmond and michigan.

Oh so you have proof that Desmond is on the University of Michigan payroll. Please link that.

What the hell are you talking about? When did I say he was on the payroll? Get a grip, man.

So it is a COMPLETELY different situation than Urban who is LITERALLY on the Ohio State University payroll. If I was overly critical of my company in public I run the risk of being fired. So it is different.

Wow... so, in case you didn't know, Urban is fucking loaded. He doesn't need the university's money, and they're not going to fire him for being objective about the team. If they did, it'd be a horrible look for the university.

Back to the actual discussion - Howard is very involved in the UM program and frequently shows up to events. He's also an unabashed homer while being on the largest college football pregame program in the nation.

Urban hasn't even been on the air yet, but according to ralphie, he's going to be some biased homer on what I assume will be the 2nd biggest college football pregame program in the nation.

Tell me - what does his employment at the university actually matter here? How does it make him any different than Desmond Howard in terms of being biased (an assertion that hasn't even been remotely proven about him yet)? In what way would Urban's presence on Fox make him some unfair advantage in recruiting, but Desmond somehow isn't?

If it was virtually anyone else associated with OSU, probably not. Hell, Robert Smith was on the show last year and I didn't say anything. Objectively, having one of the best CFB coaches of all-time on your broadcast is a big boost. I'll take his analysis over anyone on CGD right now, and it has nothing to do with him coaching at OSU. If it was Saban, I'd have made this same thread.

Oh God, I love Coach, but watching Saban on Gameday makes me uncomfortable. As does watching Meyer. Being a great coach doesn't mean you've got what it takes to make a show work. Are there any Ohio State fans that like Herbie since he told you to go fuck yourselves and moved to Nashville? While I agree Corso has gotten a little cringy to watch, he has earned the right to stay as long as he likes. Reece and Herbstreit are fine, not that excited by Pollack and Howard.

See, I'd love to see Saban actually breaking down gamefilm in anticipation of an upcoming game. I know he'd be dryer than a nun's vagina, but it would actually be coherent and relevant. I don't need to see a bunch of zany antics or stupid signs in the crowd. I want actual information, and it's just been a while since we've gotten that from CGD.

Why would you take that cast? Simply because it's Meyer? He wasn't all that good on TV the last time around. Obviously he has knowledge, but so does everyone else. Rece Davis is great, Herbie is great. But the best thing about CGD is the atmosphere, not the analysis. I don't watch it that much anymore either, but what Fox is throwing together certainly won't make me watch theirs either. And I'm a huge fan of Quinn obviously.
I’m sure everyone will want to listen to someone with the personality of a dead fish and the moral fiber of Ted Bundy.

I hear working on live TV is a real pressure cooker. How will Urban handle his "headaches"?

*waits for the obligatory response from Buckeye fans about Michigan's record against Ohio St. Ya know, because it's relevant to the topic

Cheat may not have been the best choice of words, but really? Reggie Bush and Urban Meyer are stand up guys?

I would rather watch Dr. Lou spit all over himself
Best choice of words? It's an out and out lie. Accusing someone of cheating is pretty different from anything you'd ever say about Urban. The worst thing anyone has to say about him in his time at OSU is he didn't fire Zach Smith when he should have, but saying he actually cheated is a different animal.
