Branch and Larsen cut I like it. Branch IMO was overpaid.... They can do better.

I agree they were overpaid - we really made some bad deals in the money we gave those guys -- BUT, IMO, it has nothing to do with their ability to play -- both of these guys are quality players at their positions -- injuries aside. Much like was the case with so many other players on the team last season -- and the team as a whole -- these guys just fell victim to bad coaching.

Much like I said with Amendola, I wouldnt mind seeing at least Branch be brought back at a better price than his current.

Dwyane Allen to the Fins on a 2-year 7 million dollar deal.

Provides a veteran to the team and position, good locker-room guy. And a solid blocking option at the position. Hopefully, this allow the Dolphins to unleash Gesicki as a pass-catching TE now that the inept Adam Gase is gone.

Over the Cap | NFL Salary Cap, Contracts, Salaries, Bonuses and Analysis

Here is a link to a good website for all things free agency and explanations of such transactions that occur in the league.

Free agency not yet officially started -- but good to see the Dolphins are committed to actually being active in adding and subtracting this off-season.

I expect a trade or two early on in this process to facilitate their cap situation.

WTF are they doing?? Didn't they draft two TE last year? How many TE's do you need?? This ownership has to be one of the worse ones in the NFL if not the (4) major leagues. Money needs to be spent elsewhere. Going to be a 4-6 win season at the most. How many years does it take to rebuild/re-load :noidea:

Man, if you really think this move is the determining factor of how many wins they will have -- then you need to check in to a mental rehab facility ASAP. This move alone doesn't determine anything with regards to the team, the front office or ownership.

As I said above, and those who understand the game and this team will agree -- this move was made to add experience and depth to a position that needs it. Yes, the team drafted two TEs in the last draft -- but both are young and inexperienced -- and one is mostly a blocking TE.

The team spent very little money for this move -- and more moves will be made to create more cap space, so its not like this one move kills their cap space.

In other news, the Fins are losing Frank Gore to the Buffalo Bills via free agency -- I really thought that he would want to finish his career here as a hometown guy. But, prior to his injury, Gore showed he had something left in those legs -- and he probably wanted to go to a team that was going to have a less loaded backfield for him to get some carries.

His production, veteran leadership and presence in this organization will be missed.

Expectation is the Jaguars will release Blake Bortles after the signing of Nick Foles becomes official. For those that want Tannehill gone and want the Fins to go with a new QB -- What say you about Blake Bortles? Has some talent. Still has upside and is fairly young.

A fresh start may do him some good but I'd rather have Bridgewater or Tanny depending on cost. I'm guessing they will go cheap this year to get the cap straightened out...

No, the factor of 4-6 wins is they don't know how to put a decent team on the field.

The thing is that if they keep signing high priced vets they will never get their cap straightened out. If they were a few players away from a bowl different story but they're not. First step is to fix their lines and find a QB. Hopefully won't take too long but it's the right move...

Yes, I agree with above. The Suh signing really hampered the overall ability for them to get other pieces that were needed. Hopefully they will be smarter this time around. The Allen signing pretty much says to me, they wasted picks last year on two TE's. He is not a leader, never was with the other teams, so I not sure what they intend to be with him and the other TE's. I will say they did get him for decent price, but that should tell you something in itself.

There was a lot of talent elsewhere drafted after Mike Gesicki that the Fins could have used

He's a cheap vet who knows their system and can hopefully bring along Gesicki. If anything will provide extra blocking and let them run more.

James to Denver they have a huge need on the oline now. Although I don't think it would have been wise to pay that much for James...he's also injury prone.

Not mad about losing James considering the asking price. All the more reason to focus on other positions other than QB this off-season.

Cap space being created now -- lets see what the Fins do now.

James was decent but not the best RT in the NFL hurts now but long run bad signing for that money. Hopefully they find a replacement who's half the cost...but can still get the job done.

Devante Parker returning on a new 2- year deal. He still has talent, potential/upside and i am confident the new coaching staff will help bring out the best out of him -- which Gase and his staff simply refused and failed to do.

Teddy Bridgewater back with the Saints. The Dolphins can now scratch him off their wishlist. And they have. Focus is now on Tyrod Taylor.

Taylor has been a nightmare for the Dolphins over the years -- but I just don't think he is a good fit for this team in any way. I, of course, still don't think we need to make a change at QB as long as Tannehill is around -- But, even if I felt differently, I don't think Taylor isn't the answer is the bridge guy/short term answer for this team.

RG3, Fitzpatrick, Geno Smith, Josh Johnson, Osweiler, Siemian, Mannion, Hogan -- would be the remaining QBs on the market.

I think once Blake Bortles is officially released -- he goes to the top of this list based on potential alone.

That being said, this shows how weak the choices are at QB this free agency period -- more so now with Bridgewater and Foles off the board.

And, with rumors that Murray will be the top pick for the Cardinals -- all the more reason for the Fins to stand pat at QB this off-season as far as trying to make a splash. What the Dolphins need to do is try to restructure the Tannehill deal - draft a QB to groom in the mid-to-late rounds(very doable and more reasonable approach to take) and go from there.

Are you going to try to make saying stupid shit a thing this offseason? You are off and running.

Free Agency hasn't even officially started -- the draft isn't even here yet. The work to putting a team together is just beginning for this new staff and restructured front office.

If you are talking about previous regimes on this team, you may have a slight argument -- but if you are talking about the present -- you are just spewing nonsense.... Again.

No one knows how this rebuild will turn out. But what is certain is, the organization is doing every thing they possibly can to get this turned around. They deserve the benefit of the doubt -- and time to get this thing turn around.

That being said, as usual -- I think they wipe their ass with what this fan base says --- and rightly so. This is by far one of the lousiest fan bases in all of sports.

Fins up, bitches!

Cam Wake to the Titans in a 3-year deal.

23-mil dollar deal that includes 10 million in guaranteed money.

We appreciate and thank him for his services on and off the field in his time here -- but that is simply too much money for a 37-year old player. Its not a smart move for the Titans and would've been less so from a Dolphins perspective.

Haters and idiots will say what they will about the team and the moves being made, but the Dolphins are doing the right thing in letting some of these guys go considering the money they are leaving for.

The Fins are rebuilding and need to get under the cap in order to have the flexibility to make moves -- this only helps them.

The up to the minute calculations are that the Fins have about 19 Mil in cap space currently. Considering a number of that goes to draft picks -- obviously a few more moves need to be made in order to create more room.

I think with some of the contracts that the Fins have been able to let go of be it by guys they've released or lost to other teams -- I think we will see some restructuring of contracts of some of our current players in order to create room. I always thought James and Wake would be two of the toughest, and in a sense, more unwilling to restructure -- so them being gone now makes it easier for the team to deal with players who will be more willing to restructure if asked.

An under-the-radar move -- the Fins let go of LB Mike Hull -- He was solid on special teams and showed flashes of having potential when healthy.
