Maybe the Rangers are a better team than the Sharks over the last 10 years but not this year. How is Lundy a big improvement over Jones? Statistically, it's a downgrade. Yeah, he's got playoff experience but if his regular season stats aren't as good as what we have now, why would we try to reach for that? I'm in the thought process that we only trade for a goalie if he's a significant improvement than Jones and Lundy is not that guy. There are no stats to back the statement that we'd have more wins with Lundy as our goalie. No stat shows that whatsoever because Jones beats him in practically every category.

Also, we have to look towards the future while trying to win now. Lundy is 36 years old. He's, at most, got 2 years left in him. Where does trading for him now leave us in 2-3 years? Gotta be smart if we are reaching for an aging goalie with a slight possibility at an improvement. Jones as 14 QS while Lundy has 17.

I take the whole skills thing with a grain of salt because how often can any goalie do that in a game? This is a shootout drill at best. Doesn't really say anything about game time situations. Great accomplishment but it says nothing to what a goalie can do in a regular game.
Lundy does it routinely because he has too Lundy > Jones, sharks win the cup with Henrik this year and possibly next year if they resign EK

Well it won’t be with Jones, hope I’m wrong though

We wanna win a Cup anytime soon, it's not gonna be by trading away guys for a goalie with worse stats than the one we have now.

I like how you dismiss the quality of team in front of said goaltender, it will impact any goalies stats not named Hasek.

I didn't dismiss anything. The Sharks have great players in place and makes no sense to trade those players away for a goalie who will retire in 2-3 years and, in my opinion, doesn't make us that much better to win a Stanley Cup. Many Sharks fans forget his first season with us, which was also the first time the Sharks made the Stanley Cup, and most Sharks fans forget how he's performed in the playoffs for us. 6 shutouts in the playoffs, SV% of .923 in 2016, .935 in 2017 and .928 in 2018 and a playoff GAA of 2.07. Just having an off year. He's young, he will bounce back.

problem is the age of the core of this team, likely the last year of premium production out of pavelski and burns will stop tailing off. Vlasic I’d imagine Atleast I’m hoping has been hurt all season because his fall off this year is alarming. Logan isn’t getting younger and his game isnt conducive to a long career. I didn’t forget Jones first year he was all world but that’s 3 years ago you don’t win now with past percormances

This just in! Martin Jones still sucks, solid numbers though 4 goals on 12 shots and it should be 5 if not for Vlasic. Solid .667 sv%. Not winning a cup with this guy in net

We haven't given up more than 5 goals in over a month and have only given up more than 6 once all season so IDK where you are getting this "scores of 8-7 all the time" thought because that's just not factually correct.

Also, where were you when we had a shutout against Pittsburgh a week ago? You only seem to come around to complain about our goalie situation. We are averaging 2.7 goals allowed per game this month which is slightly better than the 3.4 goals allowed per game we averaged in January.

By the way, would you still like Lundqvist who is 1-6 this month and 5-9 in the last two months?

The way I see it, we are solidly a playoff team, one of, if not THE, best team(s) in the West and only 3 points back in the division. If we end the season the same way we did last year, we will have 48 wins, which we haven't had in 5 years. Our goalie situation isn't the best, but it isn't the worst and we obviously have the offense to make up for where we lack in the goalie category. There's never really been a need to make a move in that position and a majority of that is due to there not being any better options available or obtainable.

How often do those shutouts happen? 2 in 48 games and a .896 Sv%
8-7 was an exaggeration but Jones routinely giving up 3-4 goals a game that’s not a winning formula, he’s also not trending up in a consistent fashion either.

Can he turn it around sure, is it likely? No. I hope I’m wrong and “playoff jones” shows up come playoff time, but his mechanics have been horrendous all season and to often he’s behind the play coupled with his stats it’s a bad formula.

I’d take Lundy still, he’s on a rebuilding Rangers team not possibly the best team in front of their goalie in the league if not 2nd best.

Oooh Jones with a solid 18 save performance so far and a .857% sv so far tonight so his last 5 games prior to this his sv% was .941, .700, SO, .826, .875, and tonight he’s at .857. That’s how not to win a Stanley cup.

Combined sv% over that stretch is .868 that is horrendous consider the shut out and the .941 game

Good job Jones you got above a .878 sv% into a .900% granted the Av’s were just shooting to shoot but against Jones that’s a high % play

Oh how easily you forget the last three years. It's a bad year for him. With Jones in the net, we are the 2nd best team in the West and arguably the 3rd best team in the league. It's 1 bad year for him. Please take a chill pill. You are so quick to jump on here when he does bad but I cant remember the last time you said anything positive here. It's not all bad. It really isn't. We could be where LA is right now, but instead, we are 5 points from the division lead. Could be ALOT worse.

I have and in this thread you should probably read before commenting, I mentioned how he looked like he was improving technically but that lasted all of 5 games. He’s having a horrendous season the timing of it couldn’t be any worse, because this is probably the best sharks team ever but with Ek, Pavs, and Thornton are all UFAS at seasons end this is their best chance and unless jones can get it together they will be out early

Jones with an.933 tonight and only gave up one bad goal, baby steps I guess. His mechanics looked tighter though but his lateral is still sloppy and has all kinds of holes

The Sharks become the 2nd team in the West and 3rd team in the league to clinch a playoff spot. 3 points behind Calgary but on a 3 game losing streak. Gotta pick it up if we want to be there at the end for the division. 9 games left including a huge game at the end of the month against Calgary AT home.

6 game losing streak, not trading for a goalie is looking like a bigger mistake by the day. That being said the whole team looks like shit so it’s not the only problem
