I'll agree with everything you said but for the last four words, seems a touch extreme. He can just float away into oblivion for all I care, but I really don't sit here hoping the douchenozzle breaks his neck.
you are right; that is a tiny bit extreme.:rolleyes2:

Thats not to far off from what Gurley got, a little more overall a lot more guaranteed, I doubt he would get that much guaranteed, but I dont think this is to far off from he could get

Penny could be a bust, the future will tell us.
heres my rationale............and hear me out its very basic.

1) penny was a reach. 2018 NFL Draft Grades: Seahawks get a D for reaching for Rashaad Penny in first round

2) RB's taken early start and play. Go back and look at the first and second round picks from the last 12-15 years. those guys step in and play year one. If they dont, they are generally a bust.

3) They drafted a RB in round, he was generally healthy, and the guy they wanted to replace, got fed big time. Chris carson. Seahawks ran more than anyone, and penny had a mere 85 rushes.

4) i could be wrong, but staggeringly bad.......for a first round rb, on a run first team.

Don’t care what another team pays him. Would only care if the Steelers were stupid enough to try & keep him permanently.

In any case, he’ll be paid more than he’s worth.

And yeah, drafting Penny that high was a bad move and looks like a bust so far although he did have a couple of good moments this past season. Despite that, they still had the best run game in the league and still have Wilson. No need to even think about using up 1/3 of their cap space on a guy like Bell, imo.

I can understand why in hindsight it looks like bad move. However in 2017 the RB corp was devastated with injuries and under whelming performance. Carson only played a few games before suffering a season ending injury. Makes sense for a team that believes in pounding the run game to think they needed a fresh, healthy option at RB. Turns out Carson returned better then ever
and ran with a vengeance. Injuries to RBs happen every year, could be in 2019 Penny will be needed. He looked good in limited opportunities. Think it’s still to be determined if it was wise draft choice or a foolish one, or somewhere in between.
I know it’s a popular take to call it foolish, but I’m not ready to concede that yet. Certainly not after one season.

I get that. But seriously go back 12-15 years find a top two round rb that’s not used that turned out good.

OK, I get that also. Doesn't phase me though. If it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't happen. I think we can agree it looked like the Seahawks needed a RB after the 2017 season, right? Certainly the Seahawks couldn't project that Carson would recover and work out as well as he did last year. Not with any real assurance anyway. Thus drafting the RB they felt would fit their offense. Now turns out Carson recovered beautifully, he really hit his rehabilitation hard and came to camp in great shape and knew the play book. Penny came to camp fat and out of shape, didn't know the playbook. So Pete does what he always does and gave the role to the player that earned it.
That doesn't mean Penny can't work out. Took him a while to earn some snaps, but once he did he looked good. He'll have to keep at it. I think he'll get his opportunities this coming season. I'll wait and see how he does before passing judgement on his career and deciding he's a bust. Certainly not worried about the past histories of other RBs that didn't work out, I don't feel its relevant. Ever case is decided on it's own particular circumstance. I think Penny still has lots of potential to have a good career in the NFL. It's on him to make it happen.

I agree . I just tend to think history has a tendency of repeating itself

You must make the decision based on the circumstanes that exist and your judgement at that point in time.
Unless you are the Dolphins, you don't get up in the morning and say, "let's do something stupid today"
