Episode 5 is huge

I didn't read the source material, so I didn't know if the gay angle was Amazon's choice or not.

Season One was just everyone carrying around the film, but 2 and 3, the whole world opens up, even though it's not as action-packed.

Yea, just finished 5.

I didn't read the book either, but the gay thing seemed like an awkward forced "2018" turn. There's no hint that the dude is gay for the first two seasons, then just dives right in.

I don't recall any gayze in the book. But not surprised they went there. Gotta keep up with the Games of Thrones.

I still haven't watched any of this, but from what most of you have posted, I probably won't bother now, so thanks everyone.

If you've read the book, it'd probably be better to invest your time in something else. But I'm finding the whole series thus far very well-done.

I generally am prepared for how badly a TV producer can butcher a novel...and I don't actually mind something being "slow" if they're setting things up. But most of the critiques I've read about this show are that it's just awful

What reviews are you reading?! I can see why some wouldn't care for it, but with Rotten Tomatoes:

The Man in the High Castle

Season 1: 95%
Season 2: 64%
Season 3: 92%

Ok. I agree that the series moves really, really slow. Painfully slow. In fact I couldn't make it through season 2 and just jumped to episodes 9 and 10 at the end. And those were really good.

So I'll gut it through season 3 I guess.

I watched the first 3 or so episodes on the plane a few months back. It was OK. I just got Prime during my Xmas shopping, so I will binge this in the coming months.

No real spoiler, but later in Season 3 we get to see the lax Cuba under the Nazi regime.

Which gay thing?
The two guys or the two women? :D

I was all in for the two women subplot!! ;) The blonde aryan woman was a real hottie. Yoouch!

That said, I finished season 3 and it was way, way, better than the wreck that was most of season 2.

They built enough of the science fiction piece up to make the story coherent.

I am watching this now, but cannot make heads or tails of the time period. I am about mid-way through S2, and an episode or 2 back, it was mentioned that Joe was born in 1975. But the Trade Minister is living through the Cuban Missle Crisis.

I can ignore the fashions and technology since that can be totally upside down with America not winning the war. But is there some kind of time travel involved as well as whatever else is going on?

Haven't watched it in months and I didn't follow it all that well but there's some sort of time travel/multi demension shit going on which explains the confusion on the timeline of events. End of season 2 explains it best i think.

There is clearly some kind of dimensional rift taking place, what with the Trade Minister traveling between timelines and the films, but it has been intentionally vague on the year until the discussion between Joe and his father when they mentioned the year he was born (and it is possible I misheard the year they mentioned).

I went back to scene where they mention Joe’s birth date (ep 2.5; 19:05) and turned on CC.

He was born in 1935, not 1975. So the show takes place in approx 1965.

Not true at all. The hints were subtle, but they were DEFINITELY there.

In a flashback in S2, Frank tells Ed that they are both illegal in the Reich’s eyes. Also, when Ed is telling the Pons about his love life, his answers were very cagey. If I watched that before knowing about the gay twist, I would have picked up on it there.

The Nazi's are working on a weapon that can send people through these "rifts". Hitler knows these "rifts" exist as he is hording all the movies he can get his hands on, a task in which Obergruppenführer is overseeing.

I am loving this stuff.
