So my Yankees-fan brother said he thinks Luis Severino is better than Corey Kluber...right now. Not talking about age-factor or their entire career so far, etc. Just right now...he thinks Severino is better. And although I think Severino is good, I think it's pretty ridiculous. So I want to know if that's just me or what. So right now who do you think is better?

I am curious to see if Severino gets 1 vote from someone who is not a yankee fan

Kluber no question.

Severino has to learn how to be much more consistent before this is a conversation.

If Severino did what he did pre ASB the entire year then it would be a discussion...but instead he was awful. So I’m not sure what kind of drugs your brother is on that would lead him to have this opinion, but you should have an intervention right away.

Kluber, but I think it's close. I think Sevy's easily a top 10 pitcher in the AL right now, if not top 5.

huge yankee fan here... but how is it close... one is a consistent stud, almost a HOFer... the other CAN be a stud, but is inconsistent...

I don't think it is close at all. Kluber's best >>>>>> Severino's best. And with one decent season sandwiched in between there, Kluber has been on an amazing 5 year run. Does Severino have a lot of potential? Absolutely. But as of right now it really isn't close at all.

As much as Kluber has shit the bed in the postseason...the answer is no, he is not better than Kluber.

And what is Severino's impressive huge playoff win?

His best start is against Cleveland in 17' and if Ervin Santana hadn't choked, he doesn't have a chance to even make that start after the Twins chased him in the first inning of that year's WC game.

This past year, he was pulled early because of a high pitch count in 4 innings against Oakland and then went out and caught a beatdown in the biggest game of his life against the Yankees biggest rival.

So I'd argue that his postseason is as spotty as Kluber's is.

I agree with all of this, except for Santana choking. Yankees always hammer him, especially in the Bronx. He pitched exactly like he was expected to.

why is everyone saying Kluber a HOF (career), more consistant (career), if you only look at last season only and wanting to draft a guy for this season, its pretty close with Kluber having the edge.

Fair enough. He also was injured and didn't tell anyone about it. It's why he missed most of this season. It honestly doesn't matter with the Twins and Yankees, even good Twins teams choke in The Bronx.

What does your brother base that opinion on, and does he have downs syndrome?

I think he mostly bases it on the fact that Severino pitches for the Yankees and Kluber does not, lol.

I just skip over that HOF stuff.

He has 96 Wins...

He'd need to die in a farming accident or fight in WWIII.

Kluber was trash in the '17 and '18 postseason, but he was a monster in '16. Six starts, 4-1, 0.20 ERA, 9.17 K/9 combined against the #1, #3 and #9 offenses in baseball that year.

So, Kluber hasn't been consistent in the postseason, but Severino has nothing like that, so I'd argue that Kluber has been better in the postseason too.
