Not the other two?

Georgia was a bit behind this year. Talent was there, but nearly 70% of the roster was underclassmen, and Bama and Clemson had big edges in receivers and the front 7 on defense. Gap should be closed a bit next season though. I really can't wait to see what these 5 stars from the 2018 class can really do since they'll all be playing significant time next season.

Bama has been loaded every year since 2008. Even that 2010 team, they were loaded with talent, they were just so young they lost a couple games they shouldn't have.

So, yes, they will be loaded again next season.

Still gotta win the games. UGA was loaded this year too. Didn't get em too far. We'll be loaded again next season too, and results are to be determined.
This was the youngest Alabama defense since 2010. Alabama returned the fewest defensive starters in the SEC this past season. It caught up to them against Clemson.

Some fans try to downplay exactly how much talent their team has.

Don't buy the young talent reasoning either. I'd rather have young 5* talent than young 3* talent.

We also lost Diggs and Lewis - 2 of the few experienced ones.

We had top 5 talent, but we were a step behind Bama and Clemson. A lot of young talent, but a pretty weak senior class minus Deandre Baker.

5* doesnt mean everything. Its nice tobhave them than not but Bama had 4 players declare early, all projected to go 1st round and only 1 was a 5*...2 of them were 3*.

I think it's more like people claim there is more than there really is. They forget that 5* talent doesn't tend to stick around more than 3 years. 2015 class has 6 5 stars. 2 transfered, 3 declared early last year and Damion Harris was the only one to return.

What you really want are a bunch of 4 stars. Still in the top100 players and Alabama gets lots and lots of them. 5 stars are nice, but they are really the cherries on top.

Stocking up with a bunch of 3 stars is what you don't want to see.

Coaching can’t overcome what some are pointing to as this huge talent gap. Watch the draft this year. And next. And the next.

Clemson is loaded. So are UGA and tOSU.

It absolutely can. Venables was co-MVP of the game this year IMO. He disguised coverages and had Tua and Bama confused much of the game. Especially once the field shrunk in the red zone.

And Trevor Lawrence is just a freak. He’d be the #1 pick in the NFL draft right now and he has to play two more years

Without a doubt you have to win. But one thing a Bama fan should never say is.........they had more talent than us. That hasn’t been true in over a decade.:suds:

Lawrence is part of the talent. They also had an NFL DL.

But don’t trust me. Just watch the drafts over the next few years. CU was/is loaded.

No fans are saying that. What they ARE saying is the gap isn’t what some are suggesting.

as for young talent. Both the CB's Alabama stared in that game were true freshman. When Savion Smith was injured, he was replaced by another True Freshman CB.

We started the season with 1 true freshman CB, but we also had Diggs, who turns his head and was a 4 star from 2016 class. But he was injured mid season, so we've been rolling with True Freshman CBs all season long.

So all 3 of those guys should be here for the next few years. Diggs is also coming back. Thompson is coming back, etc. Defense should be much improved next year.

:hope:

Was wrong about Saivion. He was a Juco transfer, so not a true freshman.

I was giving him a break all year too thinking he was just young.

Bama doesn’t have a NFL DL? Or NFL offensive line? Or 3 NFL RB’s? 3-4 NFL WR’s? The Heisman runner up at QB? Probably the 1st TE that will be drafted in Irv Smith.

Bama fans need to take a step back, because they don’t even realize how much more talent they have they the rest of CFB. Only one or two teams are even close.

It is why I’ve said from the get go — Saban is a great coach, but much of what makes him great is the talent he can pull in at Bama. It is why it is funny to hear him talking about wanting a ‘level playing field’ when he plays with a stacked deck each and every year.

With Lawrence though — Clemson is going to be tough. That kid looks like the best QB to come around in quite some time and he is only 19

Agreed. Even though the title game was lopsided, it wasn’t because of talent on the field. Clemson just had a really good game plan and Saban had an uncharacteristic game plan. But that could be due to the attrition of his staff. Dabo’s been able to keep a congruent staff and it showed.

Did you see the story that one of the Clemson coaches spoke off the record and said that they only spent one week of prep on Notre Dame and spent the rest of their prep time on Alabama.

I think we would have done the same if Notre Dame had dropped to the four spot.
