Gore actually had a great season but idiot Gase simply got pass happy even when leading in games. This cut into Drake's carries even though they were moving the chains. 3rd and short he'd call 45 yard low percentage bombs this is one of the reasons why he had to go.

For a 35yo? Yes, he did.

Honestly a lot of playcallers get caught up in this. The Saints has one of the best Passers out there. You see how often they run in TDs anyways. I am sure if Brees was more worried about his stats he could have a lot more TD passes inside the 5. I see so many teams on the one try 3 downs of passing for that TD. Including the Cowboys. (not as much now)
So that isnt just your ex-playcaller. That is a lot of them nowadays.
Agreed but the problem in Miami is that the oline was not great in pass protection. Tanny would get sacked Gase would pass more and they'd go backwards. He'd then run on 3-21 and punt. Lost games because of this...

Definitely Kingsbury. Just found out they hired Vance Joseph as DC.

What is the best strategy for a young coach lacking in NFL experience? Get him coordinators that also lack experience.

Just call them the Arizona Dumpster Fires.

Poor Larry Fitzgerald. He deserves so much better.

Didn't Fitz retire?

Sounds a little familiar, except our OC on 3rd & long would throw 3 yards into the flat & then punt.
That is where I was always like screw it. If you are gonna give up & just plan on punting, throw it deep. If INT it is like a punt anyways. But in todays NFL you most likely will get a PI in your favor LOL. Most cases it will be an INC, & you were gonna punt anyways. I am with you though. never understood doing the exact same thing in every 3rd & long situation.

No idea. Especially, since he did a good job for the most part with the Bengals....they were trash when he was hired and he turned them around.....but they sucked in the playoffs.....

Zac Taylor will be the worst hire if he gets the Bengals job as expected.

Well, the only way I see the likes of Kingsbury, Kitchens or Taylor succeeding is if they get themselves very good defensive coordinators and good OC's that allow them to focus on the job of being a HC.

Looking at the Eagles, they did it that way with Andy Reid (Jimmy Johnson as DC) and Doug Pederson (Jim Schwartz as DC, supported by Reich as OC). The one time they did not was with Chip Kelly (ran the show on offense, and largely determined the defense as well), and that quickly turned into a complete disaster.

Ideal would be if you get the defense run by someone who wants to be a DC and for some reason does not want a HC job (JJ) or is unattractive as a HC candidate (Schwartz, JJ). The way the Eagles seem to have done it for JJ and Schwartz is basically making them 'HC of the defense'.

Yeah, the Eagles lucked/backed into Doug Pederson, but things have worked out quite well so far.

The Dolphins have hired Brian Flores, that’s your worst hire so far.
