Im pissed about Fangio going to Denver, but think its a stupid hire for them. Their defense is already good.

Gase is shit, and the Jets just took him from a division rival, and why? Who fucking knows why the Jets do anything?

Still thinks Kingsbury is the the worst of the lot, just because he hasn't done shit. Well, not as a head coach. And I would totally stick with him as the worst hire, if it weren't for the Bengals extending his contract.
Why is Marvin Lewis on this list?

Even as a big McVay fan, I can't believe teams are trying his coaching tree already (more of a sapling, lol). LaFleur didn't get much done in Tennessee as OC, so lets hire him as a HC!!! Now the Bengals are sniffing around QB coach Zac Taylor?

I understand not wanting retreads, but now they're harvesting before ripe...
It's a crapshoot for sure, but let's say the Cards hired him as an OC and he does a great job. He would be gone the next year because some team would offer him a head coach position.

IMO - This was a strategic move banking on him being the real deal. If he shits the bed, who cares? The cards are already the worst team in the league. The only way to go is up, or at worst sideways.

Definitely Kingsbury. Just found out they hired Vance Joseph as DC.

What is the best strategy for a young coach lacking in NFL experience? Get him coordinators that also lack experience.

Just call them the Arizona Dumpster Fires.

Poor Larry Fitzgerald. He deserves so much better.

Gotta be Gase. You could be surprised with Kingsbury but with Gase you know you are getting shit. But that's the NFL for ya. Recycle, re-use

You could call Kingsbury and kitchens bad hires because they have no resume but in my opinion both of those coaches were hired to make sure that their franchise quarterbacks get taught well.

Whether that works or not, time will tell, but I can see what they were thinking anyway

As someone who overdrafted Drake this year, I have to disagree. Watching telecasts at the end of the year lamenting the running game while Drake was underutilized in favor of old man Gore was hilarious. The issues with Devante Parker (deep in the doghouse apparently) are confusing at the least, especially after trading away Landry.

The worst hire? Maybe not, but why not hire him as an OC with someone over him making the big decisions?

Dave Toub anyone? Why does everyone want an OC or DC to be head coach? It's only a guarantee to tilt the personnel decisions.
To be honest if he handed over the play calling you could live with the other BS but he won't. He's an atrocious play caller so OC wouldn't work. He doesn't understand short yardage and gets pass happy when his run game is working fine. Glad he's gone especially to the Jets couldn't have asked for anything better...

Murray said he was playing baseball....

I love how they drag up something four months ago and they tweak it that they are looking to trade Rosen....

Nope. He did not. Actually said the opposite, he is playing football and most likely entering the NFL Draft

Honestly a lot of playcallers get caught up in this. The Saints has one of the best Passers out there. You see how often they run in TDs anyways. I am sure if Brees was more worried about his stats he could have a lot more TD passes inside the 5. I see so many teams on the one try 3 downs of passing for that TD. Including the Cowboys. (not as much now)
So that isnt just your ex-playcaller. That is a lot of them nowadays.

I guess we'll see. I admittedly don't know as much as you regarding his Miami hire, but I'd be surprised if his replacement has more success over the next couple years.
You could be right because the Fins may draft a QB, go with Falk or keep Tanny so that will severally influence their record. Either way Gase was given a team and funds to win immediately so it wouldn't be fair to compare. This team will be a true wildcard who knows what will happen if they draft well the step back may not be that large...

Much like the draft, I can't really grade them untli after a good three years. I do like when teams think outside the box and instead of hiring a guy like Mike McCarthy, they go get a Kingsbury or LaFleur or whatever. On the flip side, I have to wonder how much power the GM in those cases (hiring young HC's) get to have or more importantly, how little control the HC will have? Hiring positional coaches? Draft? 53 man roster?

I had 3 friends who went against my strong opinions and drafted him early. It's not as if he was some amazing runner who they kept under wraps - Gore had a better YPC on more carries. There's clearly something about Drake that is keeping him from taking that next step to being a bellcow. I can't help but laugh about Parker. His camp was adamantly against the Browns drafting him, so seeing him flounder doesn't exactly evoke and empathy from me.

He was going to get another chance whether it was the Jets or someone else. He's still thought of as a bright young mind, so it might've just been a poor fit.
Gore actually had a great season but idiot Gase simply got pass happy even when leading in games. This cut into Drake's carries even though they were moving the chains. 3rd and short he'd call 45 yard low percentage bombs this is one of the reasons why he had to go.

Kingsbury. Followed by Gase.

Arians was the best hire.
