What are your thought on CUSA's new tiered scheduling? Do you think it will help them get multiple bids and increase R.P.I?

In case you don't know, CUSA will re order the schedule into three tiers after the first 13 games and put the best teams against each other in a home and home before the tournament.

I guess it depends who wins the games.

If one team sweeps all of the other teams, then it will help that team make it as an at large if they loses in the conference tourney.

If the teams split the games, then it dilutes all of the teams RPIs.

That's a great point. I originally thought that it might help multiple teams but now that you mention it. It's probably designed to simply help the top team in the event that they lose the tournament.

Top team in KenPom is ODU @ #78. I don't think any changes in conference scheduling are going to help them be more than a 1-bid league.

You may be right but suppose OD ends up winning the league with like a 24-6 record but loses in the tourney final to say a North Texas team at 23-7. You don't think OD gets in?

I can't see it. Their NET would still be in the 60s/70s with their best won being syracuse and some bad losses

Well OD lost yesterday so their RPI is going to drop. Anyhow, their final RPI is projected to end in the 70s so I don't think they get in unless they win the tourney.

However, North Texas, who won again yesterday, is 16-1 and they are projected to end with a RPI in the 30s.

So lets reverse the order. What if OD wins the tourney in a final with North Texas who's RPI is in the 30s? Do they get two in?

C-USA is a one bid league unless North Texas can get to something like 28-2 before the conference tournament. The league just isn't good enough at the top. Currently only 2 top 100 teams in the NET.

This is true. However, If North Texas does what they are projected to do, they will be in the 30s RPI. I think they get in win or lose in conference tournament.

Simply having an RPI in the 30's won't be enough. There will have been other mid majors that have been left out with higher RPI's than the 30's and all of them will have had a win over a tournament (at large) team. North Texas will not. My guess is they need to win out to the CUSA final to even have a chance.
