His career rate stats will be lower across the board within 3-4 years.

He isn't Superman. The body slows and doesn't rebound as well by 27 or so. Unless you're Barry Bonds.

Better player of better hitter? Only a few players in the history of the game could beat AP as a hitter and I’m a yuge fan. But overall player Id have to go Trout. Speed on bases and defense in the OF the dude might be the closest thing to Mantle we’ve seen (even tho I didn’t see Mantle play — he was a 5 tool player.

:wtf:

LOL...Joey Votto early 2000's? WTF are you trying to say? Monsters??? Patrolled????

Not only that, but Ryan Howard and Adrian Gonzalez didn't really establish themselves as top hitters until 2006.

I will say though, I didn't realize Klesko had some really good years in San Diego.

Pujols had 13 HRs in the playoffs by this point in time

Even if Trout is comparable or slightly better, Pujols had a much better career at this point.
Arte Moreno being a moron makes Trout a worse player??

Not what I said. I said Pujols had the much better career. Made clutch hits and HRs to make the playoffs and win playoff games.

I'd imagine the 2006 Cardinals are generally considered one of the weaker Champions of all time so he was able to make a lot out of a little, too.

I know what you were getting at, but I don't think Trout's excellent play has been a reason for the lack of postseason success by the Angels during his career. Committing ungodly resources to an aging player like Pujols is a more likely contributor.
I know that Trout did not hit well in the one playoffs he did make (he did get a HR, his lone hit), but Albert was about as bad in his first playoff series with two hits and one HR. Pujols quickly got a lot of chances to redeem himself, though.
I guess we write Willie Mays off as a loser for slugging .337 in the postseason and .282 in the WS in particular?

Pujols' team helped to put him in 53 playoff games at this point. Trout's team has helped to put him in 3.

Personally, I think this is a ridiculous point.

"Pujols was better at this point because he played on a much better team."

I understand if you think I'm being a petty dick but this is a big pet peeve of mine.

Dominant. Pujols dominated in St. Louis, so he was dominant.

How many grammar Nazis does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Someone has to do it. Trout might be more talented but his career feels a bit wasted at this juncture.

Trout is very likely to be one of the most valuable players of all time. If he doesn't have playoff success, you're going to see a lot of people 'underrating' him relative to his statistics because thats what we do in America.

Trout isn't done or close to it so hard to say. Pretty even, slight edge to Pujols but I'm sure when we look back at it Trout will be the better player with the better prime.

Mick told a great story about checking with a farmer about using his land to hunt and the guy asking him to shoot an old mule that was lame before they went out. Mick told Billy he was shooting it because the farmer wouldn't let them hunt as a gag and then Martin dropped several cows in a rage before Mantle could stop him!

That story is a classic!

Is WAR a bit misleading when comparing today’s crop of CFs to the monsters who patrolled 1st base in the early 2000’s

Bobby's career only overlapped with Pujols's for a single season (he also performed poorly during that season) and he started fewer than 100 games at first base over his entire career.
