Stan actually played HS ball with Junior's grandfather, Buddy....guess Donora must have been ahead of the times as far as race relations went

The only person I have seen say anything really bad about Musial was Joe Garagiola, who got involved in a bad business deal with Stan and ended up suing him. Joe intimated that Stan was a prick under the smily facade.

One of Stan's sons wrote that the only regret he had was that he never spent much time with his dad when he was a kid...if it wasn't baseball, his dad was gladhanding at the Stan & Biggie's restaurant. The kid said Stan had a major fear of sliding back into poverty and felt obligated to do whatever he could to maximize revenue at his place so he would feel his family was secure.
