It’s not people saying #16 deserves a shot, it’s people saying every conference champion deserves a shot. An 8 team playoff would have excluded Washington this year and people would have cried about how dare they leave a conference champ out and ignore the 3 losses.

Wait wait wait...why would Washington have been left out? Serious question

Because people are suddenly averse to auto-bids? You're saying Wazzu deserved a spot because slightly better record, even though they lost h2h to U-Dud? What 4 other teams would have gotten in over Washington?

The next best team in the ACC was a 3-loss Syracuse...nope
The Big Xii's second place team was 4-loss Texas...nope
The B1G would have sent Ohio State and... 2-loss Michigan?
In the SEC, you had 2-loss Georgia, and then several teams with 3 losses or more.

So that would have given us (in no particular order):
1 Alabama
2 Georgia
3 Oklahoma
4 Ohio State
5 Michigan
6 Clemson
7 Notre Dame

If people are saying Wazzu would have gotten in over UW, then we need to do away with the CCG's, once and for all. They serve absolutely no purpose other than a money grab, the risk is too high that you'll lose or suffer some key player injuries, and they are apparently keeping the best teams out of the playoff

Look at the top 8 teams according to the committee.

1. Bama
2. Clemson
3. Notre Dame
4. Oklahoma
5. Georgia
6. Ohio State
7. Michigan
8. Central Florida

No Washington on the list.

The Power 5 conferences should just for a new sub-division for college football only, invite 10 of the top Group of 5 teams, to have say 75 to 80 teams at most, include about 15 - 20 bow games for the teams that didn't qualify for the playoff, that that is that.

Do you agree with them?

I don't think they rank UCF that high if they know they're looking to fill 8 playoff spots

If you wan to through in a 6 conference in, that's fine, but no more than 75 to 80 teams.

I hear this argument a lot, the ol "slippery slope," but at a certain point it defies logic. 2 lead to 4 and 4 might lead to 8, sure, but I doubt it would just keep going forever. Most reasonable people would never claim "#16 deserves a shot!" when the #16 team in the nation is usually a third- or even fourth-place finisher with 3 or 4 losses.

I'm not voting in the poll because my feet hurt, but my feeling is that they shouldn't expand, yet they eventually will. However, we've all heard for years about how expanding the season is bad because they don't want college teams playing 16-game seasons. So my guess is that they would cap it at 8, which would allow all the CCG winners AND the next best 2-3 teams (depending on what Notre Dame does)
It will go on forever. Because people will always bitch about the teams that didn't get in. Whatever they are ranked.

I guess my real beef is, once expansion starts, say at 6, then we need 8. At 8 we need 16 etc.
Just human nature.
I would go with 6 or 8 if that's it.

That's because 26 is the Right number - at a minimum.

Really, who are these tshirt bandwangoners who claim they don't want more football?

Troof, and I don't think any amount of playoff teams will ever truly stop the bitchin', because that's what humans do best.

Except the NCAA tournament is FARRRR more popular than the CFB playoff . So not sure what your premise here is
I don't think ratings show that. The CFP has had some pretty high ratings for their games last season and easily beat the Basketball Final 4 in ratings.

Last season Alabama/UGA scored a 15.6 for the title game
The Basketball title game drew a 10.3.

Sit down.

Never seen that argued in the legit playoff. Be that the NFL or World Cup or World Series or even the Little League World Series. People only complain when there isn't enough.

Is it needed? No.

And it's a playoff. You weren't "invited" because you were a team who got blown out by a shitty team. You know, legit reasons.
How about an invitational playoff? :noidea:

I didn't say the titoe games were rated the same . I said the NCAA tourney is far more popiksr than the CFB playoff . TV rights are more and FARRR more total views. You know. Because there's more teams thus more games

they don't want college teams playing 16-game seasons.
That's definitely what they say but I flat don't buy it. Only eight teams would play more than 13 games. The other 122 teams would play 12....13 or 14...if they make their CCG and/or go to a bowl.

In an 8 team playoff:
Eight would play a 14th game (Unless it was ND or another team that doesn't play in their CCG/canceled game,..)
Four would play a 15th game
Two would play a 16th game.

BTW, a couple of weeks ago 24 Texas HIGH SCHOOL teams gathered up in Arlington and played their 16th game of the season at Jerrah's World. (Unless they had a game "weathered" out during the season.)

If a bunch of high school kids can handle it, surely some of the most finely trained athletes in the world can.

But, I'm ready to go back to pre BCS so I'd prefer none of 'em play more than 14 anyhoo.

Not true at all. The NFL when they expanded their Playoff had a ton of backlash back in the day. Some still feel it is watered down with Wild Card teams. Same with MLB and their Playoffs.

You aren't getting it. You can't compare Basketball to Football. The Football season isn't 30 games long like Basketball. The only relevant comparison would be the Final 4 of both sports. CFB gets better ratings for their regular season games and their Final 4 in comparison to Basketball. Just because Basketball has more games to be watched in their Playoff that Football could never match that doesn't make Basketball more popular. It just means they put more product out for consumption.

Again sit down with this fail logic.

This is what sucks about the hoop.

You've been schooled on this shit multiple times in the past, and yet you still keep on repeating the stupid shit like it's fact.
