So its early but who do you all like?

My early RB rankings

RB

1 Benny Snell Jr. - Tevin Coleman like burst and vision, but he has power/size to go with it he is my early draft crush. NFL Comp haven't really come up with a good one yet maybe a cross between Gore and Coleman

2 David Montgomery - he's quick , but not fast and is fantastic at making people miss, lots of moves, and always falls forward. NFL Comp Knowshon Moreno

3 Damien Harris - He's probably the first RB off the board in the real NFL draft. Physical runner with excellent burst and is great out of the shotgun. NFL Comp Mark Ingram

4 Bryce Love - Had a down year with some bad games and a nagging ankle injury, but is still a homerun threat every time he touches the ball NFL Comp Jamaal Charles

5 LJ Scott - He's my Sleeper pick Patient runner, that sets up his blockers well and has good hands(He's coming off a major ankle injury) NFL comp Le'Veon Bell

think singletary from FAU gets some love as we go along

also love myles gaskins game, not sure how he translates

I am intrigued by Snell. I haven't seen too much of him outside of Sportscaster highlights, but he is a guy I will have my eye on during the process.

He’s a big beast, but I’m
Concerned about his wiggle in the nfl. He can catch a bit too

Some will rise, many will fall, someone taken in the 5th - 6th rd (or go undrafted) will hit the right situation at the right time and do well. .... other than that, I got nothing at this point. ...

This appears to be a pretty talent light RB group unless a few underclassmen declare. In the real NFL draft i think its entirely possible there are no 1st round running backs, the WR/TE on the other hand are a bit are a bit above average. I don't think any of the offensive skill guys are blue chips this year. Not a good year to have the top pick in dynasty imo.

David Montgomery, Iowa State

Montgomery is by far the consensus RB1, and he is the one RB that has the best chance to be a 1st round pick, but that doesn’t mean his gap is very far. Yes, he is my current RB1. But I can tell you with certainty that there are guys nipping on his heels.

Montgomery’s a bit of polarizing prospect because he does not have the “second gear” and he is not a particularly elusive guy. However, he just does not go down. The guy has fantastic contact balance and plays with a relentless tenacity to grind out yards. While not elusive, he is smooth, as he can cut on a dime. His receiving ability is underrated as well. The guy has some natural hands that have only gotten better.

He is a great day 2 value pick for any team and will be an immediate contributor somewhere.

yet...........

Montgomery was the toughest running back to tackle in all of college football this season and his 90 total missed tackles forced were by far the most in the conference. He’s on pace to once again lead the nation in missed tackles forced on carries for a second straight year.

Nashville radio always talking SEC, they were saying its hard to put a good hit on Snell, just positions his body right and avoids the thumpers - that's huge for longevity if it translates to pro game

I see some pretty good interior lineman in those..not much that sells me entirely on Snell though. Sure does seem to get caught from behind more than he should.

Gonna have to find some "non highlight" film, see how good he is when there isnt a grand canyon in front of him.

couple huge grains of salt to take with that.
First and foremost, the Big 12, where Montgomery played the vast majority of his games, is by far and away the worst defensive collection of all the major conferences, forcing 90 missed tackles isnt necessarily a big deal there. But if he can't even lead that conference in rushing, not even really all that close, in Iowa state no less, where they aren't exactly prolific passers, that's a concern.
So when scouts are already saying he lacks a second gear, and isnt shifty, 90 broken tackles against some of the worst defenses in the country doesn't really sell me. Sounds a lot like Perine, another Big 12 alum with impressive college numbers, much more impressive than Williams, to be brutally honest.

Still gotta hit some "non highlight" film on this dude as well, and still plenty of dissecting will be done by dildos smarter than me, but as of now, I don't see much in him.
