He has yet to make 30 starts in the bigs, but hard to see a downside. The more I watched Sheffield, the more he looked like a future bullpen arm.

Now sign Corbin and call it a winter.

No complaints from me. Now we make Tanaka into our #3 I guess and hope Sevy is better next year.

Yeah, that Davis deal was a bit much, guy had a great yr. or 2 but then he fell back. No offense but I doubt he would find a taker for that contract.
Agreed. The only way we could even think about finding a taker for him is to trade for another bad contract.

not a great farm, but not awful either. can't wait to see what Decker and Casas can do in 2019.

Cubs acquired INF Ronald Torreyes from the Yankees for a player to be named or cash considerations.

With Addison Russell suspended to open the season, the Cubs needed another middle-infield option for the roster, and Torreyes, who was designated for assignment on Monday, is a solid choice for the utility role. The 26-year-old has hit .281/.310/.375 in 576 major league at-bats, all but six of which had come with the Yankees.

Lot of folks upset by this. I'm not seeing the issue with replacing a back-up infielder with a sub .700 OPS.

Dietrich would probably be a better bench player with a pretty good bat, though he's unplayable at 3rd base and in the outfield.

BRANDON HYDE it is.

I guess it is a youth movement everywhere.

30-something GM and 40-something Manager with the Angelos Kids about to take over

There is some cautious optimism as the kids are Sabermetric modern dudes with very progressive ideas.

Maybe the old man Angelos era of Baltimore Baseball is finally ending.

Sounds like the Sox are a hard pass on Kimbrel.
