AFC: Chiefs - Yep incoming flames. The Chiefs have the 2nd worst defense in the NFL (mind you the Bengals are the worst ALL time in yards allowed at the moment, so the Chiefs I believe are 2nd or close to it in worst all time D) and just cut a good runningback... I cannot remember the last time a defense that bad won a Championship but to my recollection it was NOT recently (if ever).

I don't think Mahomes will handle the pressure come the playoffs and I think the Chiefs are VERY possibly a first played game playoff exit. I don't trust this team for a second. Sure they can score points, but put them against a very serviceable Balti/Pitts (surprisingly)/Houston/LA defense (all top 10 Ds), and it might go to shit real quick. Also as MORE game footage of Mahomes and the Chiefs offense is available, that definitely shifts the odds against KC.

NFC: Cowboys - Yep thanks to Alex Smith and McCoy going down and Philly just sucking because they dream teamed it all over again (I called this in the offseason and Eagles fans called me 'jealous' - like we didn't have Wilson or something), the Boys are basically a lock for the division. They have the defense, but good ol' noodle arm Prescott will fail massively when it's crunch time against a good team. He can't make the throws required against a competent defense, and losing some of their OLINE killed any sustainability for this offense to make plays. They'll lose in a close game against a BETTER HOME team regardless.

Honorable Mention NFC: Seattle - Bobby Wagner is the best ILB in the NFL. Wilson is the top 5 QB. Seattle is for the first time in team history leading the league in YPG rushing by nearly 10 (even with Lynch didn't do that). But it's asking a lot against high powered offenses like the Saints and Rams who can exploit Seattle's corners/lack of pass rush, and solid defenses in the Saints/Bears who lead the league in the #1/2 spot in rush defense.

Cowboys IMO are just in a terrible division and the Chiefs/Seahawks will simply fail to matchups.

I don’t think Seattle is a pretenders, Not sure why people would feel that way, they have one of the best rushing teams in the NFL, they have a legit QB, 3 deep at running back, decent receiving Corp... Lack of pass rush and a young secondary is a weak point, so I’m not thinking SB right now, but people saying they’re pretenders, I’m not seeing that... Seattle running the ball like they are makes Wilson VERY dangerous to deal with....

Do you honestly think Seattle has a legit shot at winning the Super Bowl?

in the AFC in that list only sure pretenders is the Ravens.

In the NFC lets be honest, none of the teams matter except the Saints & Rams.

Contender/Pretender for what?

Super Bowl: Anyone not named Rams, Saints, or Chiefs is not a contender.

Simply a playoff run? : Add in Chicago (defense), Seattle (Wilson, #1 run game, experience), Patriots (Brady/Belichick)

As a biased take, Seattle is clearly not unable to beat the Rams. Those games were very close and 1 probably should have been won if not for self inflicted errors at the end. The Hawks hung right there with that high powered offense. Who's to say a playoff matchup can't go Seattle's way?

In Seattle's case, making the playoffs is a big time win for the season anyway. I think they can certainly get to the 2nd round (most likely against Dallas in the Wild Card rd) and see what happens from there.

I think any team that makes the playoffs has a shot... But the road leading through the Rams and the Saints is gonna be brutally tough.... So while we have a shot, realistically that's gonna be tough...

That's how I feel. Yes all teams in the playoffs have a shot, but out side of NO and LA, I wouldn't say they are legit contenders.

Pretender...I guess we're calling any team you expect to be bounced in the 1st rd.

AFC

LAC, 4 vs 5...in spite of their great comeback to beat PIT last week, they will have to travel back east again and I'm not thinking they will leave with another W.

BAL...3 vs 6...the Ravens might be the team that no one wants to face, but I don't know if they will score enough pts in HOU to win.

NFC

DAL...4 vs 5...I wouldn't call this game but I can see SEA coming in there and stealing a low scoring game.

Of the top seeds...I agree KC has the best chance to be a one and done team. While the OFC has been prolific the DEF has been that bad and I don't think they can fix it with Berry alone.

The Rams looked good last year and got beaten by the Falcons in LA. Not sure how tough winning in LA will be for an opponent.
