I realistically had the Broncos at 5-4 at best going into their week 10 bye. After the Jets loss we can’t really consider any game a gimme, but consider:

Vs Rams: loss, 2-4

@ Cardinals: win, 3-4

@ Chiefs: loss, 3-5

Vs Texans: win, 4-5

Again, no game is a gimme but I think the Cardinals and Texans are winnable games. And of course we can hope for the team to hold serve against those two and swipe one from either of the Rams or Chiefs. But for now it looks like best case may be 4-5 at the bye instead of 5-4.

If this is the case how would you all feel about the team’s prospects going forward? There will be some stout opponents on the backside of the schedule but if the Broncos manage 2-2 over the next 4 I’d say they’re not out of it just yet.

What says the class?

I dont think we beat the Texans, and that winds up being the last straw for Joseph.

After the Jets loss you may be right. I still would like to think this team has enough in it to step up and rebound, but honestly that’s just hope moreso than anything else. Certainly haven’t seen any indication they’re up to it.

As much as I wanted and still want this team to have a good year, it just doesn't look good.

The defense has been pretty atrocious, and our inability to be consistent on offense is eerily similar to way the things were after week 4 last year. I don't know what it is, but there just seems to be a major disconnect across the board on the field, and that all starts at the top.

You take away a good finish against the Seachicks and a pretty lucky comeback against the Faiders and this team could easily be 1-4, 0-5 right now. It's just the harsh reality.

If we get pasted by the Rams, then I don't see any reason to continue with Joseph at the helm. I know it's been said in the past that players like him and whatever, but actions speak louder than words, and their performance on the field seems to show a lack of desire to play for the man.

I hate the fact we threw $36 million at Keenum even more now than I did when it happened. It probably nixes any chance of Kelly getting a shot this year regardless of how crappy we play. Not saying that Kelly is going to blow up, but he's got pedigree, and in all honesty, if we're shitting the bed, I'd rather see him get reps than to ride Case into the toilet. This would enable us so get a good look at the kid and decide if we can even entertain the thought of him being the man down the road.

Turn back the clock, and I'd love if we'd have grab any one of these blue chip QB's in this last draft. I know it's only been 5 games, but all of them have shown flashes in the 1st quarter of the season and you can see their upsides are massive.

Frankly, I abandoned all hope in the 4th quarter of the Chiefs game.

@MrDoc420 you are dead on about the defense. Huge disappointment. Joe Woods needs to go. He is not calling a scheme that fits these players and is wasting some serious defensive talent.

This team seems to play much better at home then the road. The Texans should be better then they are. They maybe starting to get their sea legs though and that could be a bad sign for week 9.

I still feel (just like last year) that the Broncos can beat any team on their schedule and that includes the Rams. They have to play well and not stop themselves. To this point they have had to beat their opponents and overcome a ton of their own mistakes. Hard to win when battling the other team and yourself.

The next 4 weeks will tell us all we need to know. If they go 1-3 or worse then we might as well start playing for the future. If we go 2-2 or better then there is hope for this year. Joseph's and his staff's future is riding on the next 4 games.

Meh. Either we have shitty players or our coaching staff sucks. The passing game can make great plays but they don't. The running game can be dominant but it isn't. The Defense can shut down the opposition but they aren't. I've seen flashes all year and I've seen some really, really good drives. But that's it. The team doesn't have its shit together and there is no reason to think that they are going to get it together at any point this season.

Last years memories have already surfaced. Too many issues of poor play at several positions. I'd like to see John do something at trade deadline. Shake things up and admit we need drastic changes going forward imo we are just spinning our wheels with this roster.

Put big names on the block DT Sanders Roby Shaq Ray does John have the nads not sure he's still in denial with this roster.

If we are blowing things up why not Peko, Stewart, and Wolff?

Not sure how much some of those guys have for trade value at this point.

Watching the Broncos play the Chiefs, I thought that they might be at a turning point and start pushing teams out of their way. I've never been a big VJ fan but I don't sense a great leader in him. I keep trying to think who might have been a better fit and Mike Vrabel comes to mind. He'd have the Broncos defense steaming and I'd be willing to bet my IRA that the Broncs would have beaten the Chiefs by 10.

I don't think the Broncos lack talent. I think they lack direction and coaching support. I don't see them very week so I'm certainly not an expert, but I sincerely miss the Pats/Broncs fistacuffs.

I agree the Broncos are not short on talent. They may be short on talent at key positions (QB, LT, and CB). I was hoping Kenuum would be the answer, but so far he is not. There are flashes of greatness and then great disappointment.

I’m adding another caveat to this: the Broncos season isn’t over if they reach the bye week at 4-5 AND the run defense rebounds to a significant extent.

I am on the fence between this being just hope and believing it can happen. They were lights out through the first few weeks, then they tanked. Hard to know what happened there, and even harder to believe there’s a fix in house. But even as the run defense has fallen apart the Broncos have only been steam rolled in one game. While that is an inexcusable performance by this team they held the two best offenses in the league under control enough that they could have conceivably been able to win those games.

So we’ll see. 4-5 with better run defense the next 3 weeks and this team may still be worth tuning in for.
