What/who did you have in mind instead?

Well mainly, it was supposed to have Cespedes in it. The rest of the guys, nothing wrong with them per se, but most of them have been horribly streaky this year - especially Jay Bruce. Seems like they've all hit all over the batting order, as well, like Calloway is trying anything he can to get some hits strung together.

McNeil has been a pleasant surprise, I sure hope he stays healthy and can continue to hit big league pitchers next season.

Mets up 3-0 after 6.

You mean to tell me Callaway couldn't let Thor go 1 more inning, having only thrown 88 pitches thru 6??

:L

Gsellman better not crap this one away.

3-1 now....top 7th...1 out....2 on.

Obigatory WP by Smith...and then a 2 run single gives Atlanta a 4-3 lead.

So predictable...it's embarrassing.

Good stuff, Callaway....way to bring the suckage to new levels.

Still wondering why Thor wasn't allowed to go 1 more inning.

Stretch time.....ho hum.

This is what he does whenever one of his pitchers has a long inning (like Noah's second inning tonight)...he pulls them earlier rather than later because he's afraid they'll implode later on.

And then the bullpen implodes anyway!

He won't last too long in NYC with that silly strategy.

I bet David Wright could pitch better than Drew Smith.

:heh:

Bullpen gives away another game....Mets drop the opener 7-3.

Noah Syndergaard tosses 6 scoreless innings

UP NEXT

Mets ace Jacob deGrom (9-9) makes his final scheduled start of a sensational season Wednesday night versus Atlanta. The right-hander leads the majors with a 1.77 ERA and hopes to polish his resume for the NL Cy Young Award.
On the mound for Atlanta will be left-hander Sean Newcomb (12-9, 4.04), perhaps auditioning for his postseason role.
