Serena didn't threaten Carlos job. In fact ITA back him up and fined Serena $17,000. He is no victim and this is ridiculous. Our eyes only see what our eyes want us to believe.
The last line especially applies to her rabid fans.

i never saw federer threaten or call an umpire a name once in that video.
He probably put up the wrong video, hehe!! Zealous Serena fans are known to do that sort of thing!

What a bunch of entitled fools. They should go ahead and boycott all Serena's matches and we would see whether they can survive.[/QUOTE]

Yeah they would barely survive by boycotting Serena’s matches because she has one foot in the tennis-grave already. Doubles would be more realistic where You only cover half the court and no 20 year olds making you run like a headless chicken.

and saying he will never be allowed to umpire another one of her matches.

That is like Trump saying to a janitor in the Trump Plaza you will never work in this building again

Our ears only hear what our ears want s to hear. How many times did he not break a racket or cussed and no warning or penalty given? You guys are so prejudiced against Serena that it is not even funny. Did you not hear him cuss many times arguing with referees and told the referees he doesn't give a shit and should not tell him what he should do?

He used to break racquets in his junior years then he learned to calm himself down without breaking racquets and the rest is history. As far as I know he has broken maybe one or max two racquets since turning pro during a match. Please make sure you know proper tennis history because this only makes you look worse and you already look bad with pointless argument just for the heck of it.

it's just a video of a collection of federer angry moments. it doesn't really note whether federer was penalized. most of the incidents are racket abuse. the rules are clear on racket abuse, you break a racket its a code violation, and as far as i know its strictly enforced. serena's not even arguing about the penalty for racket abuse.

it would be more like trump telling a judge he'll thrown off the bench because a ruling went against him.

her sense of entitlement shows she hasn't been penalized enough.

Terrible display by Serena. Fucking embarrassing.

She'll be lucky if her endorsement deals aren't cancelled.
Oh they won't be, she already claimed sexism somehow, not sure when it is 2 women playing. But 1 single endorser drops they will be labeled a racist, misogynist, xenophobe, kkk, nazi, fascist, queer hating, baby seal slapping, world destruction wanting warmonger before the ink is dry on the cancellation form

I am OK with this. Those baby seals are punks.

'I'll make sure you will never referee any match I play'" is not a threat? I call BS. Especially since refs are hired by the tournament.

Ramos is not a victim of Serena. Ramos is a victim of the idiots defending Serena in this case and accusing him of racism and sexism.

Racket: since the rule was changed to mandatory warning when damaged beyond playability in the match, he should always have been given a violation.

Your accusation of me being prejudiced against Serena is sheer lunacy.

None of these contain the following elements:

- threatening the official or his job.
- attacking the integrity of the official.

Note how Serena is upset because the umpire accused her of cheating - SOMETHING HE DID NOT!! In her mind him punishing the coach for illegal behaviour (behaviour her coach admitted to) somehow was twisted the umpire accusing her of cheating (and thus questioning her integrity). And subsequently she immediately and repeatedly goes after the integrity of the umpire herself.

Talk about hypocrisy.

And what the umpires are angry about is the fact that Serena's behaviour is completley ignored, the press by and large in completely unprofessional fashion goose-steps to Serena's tune, and so do the WTA and US Tennis Federation (two of the three most powerfull federations in tennis), while by rule the officials are not even allowed to defend themselves (and the ITF refuses to step in until forced to).

Are you fucking kidding me? He was not given a warning or penalized in any of the incidents shown.

BS, as breaking a racket is a mandatory violation. And has been for years. So he MUST have been punished.

Wonderfully stated! But these idiots are quite a few. Ramos is only one! And the others with him are scared.

Reality Check: Are female tennis players treated unfairly?

During the 2018 Grand Slams, more fines were given out to men.

We don't have the data to test the accusation that umpires fail to punish some angry outbursts made by a man, but penalise a woman for a similar type of angry rant.

During the four Grand Slam tournaments in 2018 - Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open - 85 fines for code violations were issued to men.

33 for abuse of racquet or equipment
16 for audible obscenity
16 for "unsportsmanlike" conduct
9 for coaching
2 for first round retirement
7 for start of match time, time violation, delay of game
2 for verbal abuse

There were fewer issued to women - 43.

13 for coaching
10 for audible obscenity
10 for abuse of racquet or equipment
5 for "unsportsmanlike" conduct
3 for start of match time, time violation, delay of game
1 for media conference
1 for verbal abuse

Men play more sets at major tournaments so are on court for longer and that might lead to more infractions, or give them more time to lose their cool.

To account for the longer game time, you could work out how many fines were issued per set. So, take the US Open singles' tournament. Then include fines for in-play violations and exclude retirement and the time and game delay violations.

In the women's singles tournament that's 11 fines in 297 sets, which amounts to 0.037 fines per set.

It's slightly higher for men - 21 fines in 460 sets, which amounts to 0.046 fines per set.

So, once these factors have been taken into account, there's no evidence that women were fined more often than men per set during the 2018 US Open.

However, these calculations don't take into account whether umpires are more likely to punish female players than men for a similar outburst during a match.

What LiberalBacon wants is that since they are women they must be treated as baby seals, despite all the unladylike screeching, screaming, grunting, foul mouthed preaching, rudeness, tantrum throwing, racquet smashing etc. and his favorite princess Ree should be lauded for her aggressive non playing actions on court as groundbreaking trend setting and revolutionary acts by Billie Jean and her feminist goons all over the world.

So in other words NO penalties for women just the men.

This is why I liked Steffi. She never made a scene out of herself even in the hardest of times during her father’s legal problems with tax evasion and other crisis. She played a single handed backhand instead of bashing with both hands - even with modern metallic frames; a trait that I admire in players like Sampras, Edberg, Becker, Federer some of the games legendary players. All of these players also played at the pace of the game didn’t grunt loudly to distract their opponents or intimidate them with glares and let their racquet do the talk.

yes, when steffi walked off the court you could never tell whether she won or lost. she was a model. emotionally very stable.

i also favor the one handed backhand because it helps enable an all court game, and allows greater court coverage. its a shame henin retired so early. she could have inspired a new generation of women's all court players, instead of more baseline bashers. the top all time greats mostly have one handed back hands.

Meh. Sampras was great because no one could return his slice serve. Federer and Steffi had ridiculous forehands. Both were also pinpoint with their serves too. All were great movers on the court. Players like Djoker and Agassi didn't have the serves but were the best returners of all time.

Having a 1 handed BH has nothing to do with it. It helps to be able to hit both. Only having 1 is a liability for those smart enough to exploit it. Someone with a great 1 handed BH is not going to do shit without at least 2 of those other 4 traits. See Richard Gasquet.
