I run a fantasy baseball dynasty league. It's a 16-team league where everyone is allowed to keep 15 players.

Currently everyone must keep between 8-15 keepers. If they choose to only keep 14 then they get an extra 7th-round draft pick. If they keep 13 they also get an extra 6th-rounder, etc.

I'm looking for ideas to incentivize keeping less players without actually making it mandatory. Any ideas/suggestions?

Side note, if you have any good ideas/suggestions for dynasty leagues in general let me know! This league is pretty good already but I'm always looking for ways to keep it fresh and/or improve it!

Thanks in advance!

Simply take out the rule that you get your draft picks back if you keep less..

Won't that incentivize them to keep more players and not less though?

yea, sorry... took it the other way... Why do you want to incentivize to take less??

there really is no way to incentivize owners to take less keepers, as the reason a team is keeping them is because they are over the value that you could get them at...

I get that you want to limit the advantage of the BETTER teams, so they don't consistently win, but if they can keep the players they will...

Don't see any other way than to find some penalty(instead of an award) for the owners keeping more, or just Forcing everyone to keep 10 or 12...

Yeah, it is tricky. I've kinda wanted to lower the keepers a little for a while. But most the owners don't want to and I also don't think it would be fair to do it without at least a year's notice, since we've all made plans accordingly. But thought if I came up with a way to just incentivize it without forcing it then it's like meeting in the middle. People should be ok with it since they can keep their 15 if they want, but it would spice up the draft a little each year if a few extra good players got released back in the pool.

Everyone can keep 15 people period. They can keep 15 minor leagers if they want, 15 major leaguers if they want or any sort of combination they desire. And we fill out our 33-man rosters with an 18-round draft. Again, you can have any sort of combination of major or minor leaguers on your roster.
