I think that they could have used his spot for other purposes. I get it, half the season but we don't even know how serious the condition is yet and his health should be what it is all about right now.

The reason I was surprised is because my thinking (a pure guess really) is he will need a couple of weeks to get into shape after being medically cleared. So even in a best case scenario that takes us to almost the 8 weeks. But, is there anyone we cut to get to 53 that was so important to this team and makes us wish we still had them? Maybe Price? But we all know a DT likely goes when Irving is back in a month anyway. So, I'm fine with the move. Maybe we luck out and he comes back a little early

"One constraint here is that a player must be on the 53-man roster in Week 1 to be eligible for the IR designation to return. That means, anyone who was placed on IR before roster cuts were made to trim the roster down to 53 players is not eligible." from the NFL cba

So if on week one he is on roster, we can then put him on IR and then he will be eligible for coming back after week 9?

Yes, but they said they aren't going to do that and plan (at least for now) on keeping him on the active roster even after week 1

The Oline played bad, that isn't an indictment of Looney, but on all five of them.

Seemed our rookie was the weak link. He faced a good player across from him. Bad combo. Not sure why we couldn't have game planned better for that............ Oh, wait......

He looked like the weakest link, but it seemed as though the defense constantly pushed the whole oline back nearly every play.

that is what I saw as well. The whole oline was pushed in the backfield all day. They better protect better and Dak has to gid rid of the ball faster and roll out more IMO.

Yeah, line played a role of course but Dak should have gotten rid of the ball or out of the pocket earlier too. I thought they were OK in a tough match-up with two new pieces and two that haven't practiced or played much. Certainly not great. I thought T Smith's 2 penalties kind of changed the whole game. Did Collins have 2 penalties also?

I do agree that the whole line got a bad grade but Connor had some bull rushes that went right into Dak's face. Of course Zek missed on one free guy too.

But as has been said, Dak held ball way too long and he missed some throws that go into the "should have been" category.
