oh yeah!! Shameless display of an unsportsmanlike behavior. One can never tell she has won 23 slams. Only hardware but no grace to her legacy. This rivals the tantrum Hingis threw against Steffi in the 1999 FO final. And this is by far not the only one Miss Fatty has shown when losing. The match against Clijsters where she lost ( not surprisingly) also has to go down the history as one of the worst sportsmanship behaviors of all time physically threatening to kill the linesman.

She is so insecure about her own personality that she goes on the defensive and calls the umpire a thief. Zero class.

And the writers still keep saying she is classy and graceful! No balls to speak the truth! I hope she keeps losing and goes into retirement. Once upon a time she and her sister- claimed by their ardent fans- sent Hingis into retirement with their power game. Now she is getting the same medicine.

And the fact that she hugged her opponent and cried was because the whole world was watching not because she really cared. She is only entered on her own selfish win at any cost! It’s like slapping someone in the face and saying sorry for an action taken completely voluntarily and in her senses.

While I agree that this wasn't her finest moment saying she didn't care what kind of circus the whole thing turned into at the end is just not true. I have a real hard time believing that she didn't care about Osaka having her biggest moment so far ruined by a bunch of classless idiot fans. It's not good for the sport.

Terrible display by Serena. Fucking embarrassing.

She'll be lucky if her endorsement deals aren't cancelled.

Serena's meltdown is because she's insecure with losing. She's Serena Williams and not supposed to lose. Her coach admitted he coached her and that Osaka was also being coached but wasn't called out on it. She was verbally abusive to the judge. She just wouldn't let it go and just kept bitching at him wanting an apology. Bottom line is she just didn't check her emotions which cost her the match.

She lost the match because Osaka was better. Even if she wins the second her only hope was Osaka going of the rails for the third and Osaka was obviously a lot fresher. That's what the shame of this whole thing is. The game call was on Osaka's serve anyway. It robbed her a chance of getting the break back but Osaka obviously had the huge edge. And even if she does break that just puts it back to even. She's a champ and was robbed of a shot doing it which does mean something but that doesn't change the fact that she was in a big hole to begin with.

Yep Serena was getting beaten by Osaka. What I'm saying is that Serena let the insinuation of her cheating get the best of her.

We can say Sore Loser and that would sum it up well. If you dress up a bull frog with all the colorful makeup in the world and a hula skirt it wouldn’t change the fact that it’s a bull frog...all it needs to do is croak!

Great post! Could not have summed it up better. She frustrates me. She is unquestionably an amazing talent however her behavior is well documented. Perhaps all of those applauding her today for "standing up" against sexism should consider this?

Being classy didn't make her the greatest female tennis player ever.
No you may be correct. Perhaps this thread could be directed more at the likes of Billie Jean King and others who are celebrating this behavior and calling her a hero

She's the money maker. They aren't going to mess with their paycheck. But not many of these women are going to win citizenship awards if you see what's behind the curtain. Tennis players have no life beyond tennis. With all the ridiculous training and the grueling schedule there's not much left for anything else.

Be that as it may, her actions are not the qualities I would want my daughter to admire and I would think very little of someone who calls her a hero to women

I'd assume Serena would take back one thing from the other day. And that is losing.

Well unless you find a way to shell out well over 100K a year to get to that level then you wouldn't have to worry about it. I remember when they were asking Jim Courier about Anna Kournikova about making so much money with no results. He said that if he could make the money she did without having to put in the work that he did for success he would have done the same thing. One of the big reasons these top players have the emotional IQ of 12 year old's is because that's probably the point in time that they stopped interacting with people of their own age. After that it was camps, private schools, coaches, travelling, ...
