Are they worth it? I mean I am looking around and it seems like even refurbished laptops are pricey these days.

I a just saying in general refurbished, not a specific brand or anything like that

I have a refurb that I spent around $200 for. Works great, does everything I need it to do.

Bought one for wife, she hasn't used it yet.

You can get a decent Chromebook for $199 new.

I'd stay away from refurbished laptops.
Bought a couple from the company I used to work for some years back, and even though they had a top fight tech support group to prep the machines, neither one lasted more than a year with light to moderate use.

Since then I've always bought new so I can use the warranty if necessary, and I've had to, since both hard drives and SSDs fail.

That you can but I does it have software (like word, excel, etc).

Yeah, that's what I am afraid of since most refurbs don't offer warranties

If you’re just talking in general, there’s nothing inherently wrong with it. They seem pricey because no one bothers refurbishing cheap electronics. You can get a useable new laptop cheap enough that there wouldn’t be any profit in fixing and flipping lower priced stuff.

I personally feel more comfortable buying used, well taken care of stuff from the owner than refurbished stuff. YMMV

Dell Business Outlet has great deals and you get a 1 year warranty.

Some are scratch/dent, most are business leases.

Do it.

I'd do some more in depth research on this but it appears that you can, for a price.

Can you run Office 365 on a Chromebook?
You just download Office 365 from the Play Store on any Chromebook, which supports Android apps on Chrome OS, then pay Microsoft's Office 365 subscription fee of $70 a year, and get to work. ... Chromebooks are mindlessly simple to use. If you can use a web browser, you can use a Chromebook.Dec 13, 2017
Chromebooks and Office 365 together will challenge Windows laptops ...

Chromebooks... talk about a waste of money.

$200 for a browser... awesome.

Good laptops are crazy expensive. My Macbook Pro took a shit on me last winter and I just had it refurbed because it was still cheaper than buying another one.

I have had good luck with them. Many times it just means it was a returned gift or returned for any other reason. Many times you can find them for half the price of new.
If you have a price range you are sticking to, you can get allot more computer .

At work we had to send a couple in to be repaired as the new ones wont run the old programming software, Dells.

They came back with all the licences intact so we saved a small fortune in programs.

I would say no. They new Laptops are coming out with SSDs (Solid state drives) which will make the old hard drive machines drop in price pretty fast. SSDs are a million times faster then hard drives.

You can get refurbished with SSDs too. Refurbished doesn't equal old.

i bought one from walmart for about $250 a while back. it lasted about 5 years. won't start windows now. it might be fixable but i opted for a new one.

you can get a service plane with them.

5 years is a pretty good bang for the buck on that one.

True but there are not many of them. One of the main reasons many become reburbs is a crappy drive. Obviously broken screens being the biggest.
