Its August and we are so close to 14 weeks of fun. Fall camp is getting underway and its time to get away from dumbass summer threads (looking at you @AlaskaGuy ) and start talking real football. To get this thing going, I have a question for everyone. What are the 3 biggest questions for your program going into the season?

I'll start

For Oklahoma State

1. Who takes over at quarterback?

The candidates are 5th year senior Taylor Cornelius, grad transfer Dru Brown, and Freshman 4* stud Spencer Sanders. Cornelius has the time in the program but we are really deep at running back this year and the OL is better than its been in a half decade. I'm guessing we dumb down the offense and end up with the guy who can win with his legs and his arm. Cornelius starts the season but towards conference play its Sanders team.

2. How will Jim Knowles do as the new DC?

Probably ok. He tenure at Duke was seen as being pretty aggressive so it will be nice to get away from the bend but not break philosophy the previous coordinators have employed. That being said our defensive personnel has talent at starting positions but we haven't exactly recruited for depth the last few years so we have little margin for injuries here.

3. Does Oklahoma State compete for a conference title this year?

Probably not. We have Oklahoma and TCU on the road plus West Virginia is supposed to be worldbeaters this year and the media is saying TEXSS IS BACK YALL!!!! which never happens so it's probably true. We need to go 3-1 in that stretch to make the CCG and beat KSU on the road to make the conference championship. 5 tough games when we gotta win 4 with an unproven quarterback and new DC. I'm hopeful but not gonna hold my breath. We go bowling easily but winning 10-11 games this year will be a challenge

1. Who takes over at QB?

Kyler Murray. Offense could be deadly running the ball with his skill set. Real question is how has he progressed in his passing game. We shall see.

2. How will Mike Stoops do as the DC?

giphy.gif.cf.gif

Which is somehow an improvement from last year.

3. Does Oklahoma compete for a conference title this year?

Of course. Always the first goal having already won 11 of them.

1. Can Wimbush improve his accuracy.

2. How well does the O-line gel having to replace two top 10 picks.

3. How will the defense perform(returns 10 starters) under a new DC.

Not as concerned about #2 and #3, and I'm skeptical of #1 is going to happen.

USC

1. Whos starts at QB.
Looks like it's lined up for the kid Daniels who should be a senior in HS. The returning QBs stunk it up in spring and fall camp.
2. Can the defense carry the team while the new QB gains experience
If they can go 2-1 ( Texas - Stanford) in their first three games that will keep them on track. The defense will have to perform well for the Trojans to win. If they start off 1-2 any thoughts of playoffs is gone and conference champs is only reachable goal.
3. Is Clay Helton the right head coach. It's year three. He's had two 10 win or more seasons to start which is better than any other coach in the modern era (including Pete and John Robinson) but he was given talent. Year three is when most say it's your team. He's won one more game than forecasted each year but he's also had disappointing blowout losses that question if he can coach big games. The one Rose Bowl was great but the Alabama and Ohio State and Notre Dame games were total melt downs. Because USC lost Darnold and a bunch of other talent the over and under is 8.5 games. As a fan that sounds low but if Clay can get 10 wins I suppose it's a good season for him.

1. Will Michigan State have an offense.
Stats show they didn’t the last two years

2. Will Michigan State have a defense.
Stats show they weren’t there in the biggest games.

3. Will Michigan State have special teams.
Just kidding, we haven’t had one of those in like 5 years.

Yes @AlaskaGuy how dare you keep this forum active during the long football-less days of summer. The only thing I know about Okie Lite is this -

OSU football: Oklahoma State announces beer sales at Boone Pickens Stadium this fall, along with no re-entry policy

This is a thing. Some are like yay beer in the stadium. Some are like fuck this I sneak cheaper booze in and now cant reload at halftime.

I can honestly see either side of the argument. Living on the opposite side of the country I've got all the beer I want on Saturdays in front of my tv but I'd love to have a more personal reason to join that debate.

I might try and make a Minny game this year just to scratch that live football itch. I'm figuring out every other weekend without the kids gives me time for myself.

1. Is Dwayne Haskins the real deal or a one-quarter wonder?
2. Will Urban be reinstated? (I hope so, because it would break the internet)
3. Will having 3 new starting linebackers cause the Buckeyes to lose a game?

1. Did winbush learn how to throw the ball to the right team? 2. Can the offensive line hold up? 3. Does Brian kelly check his ego at the door? I’m not confident in 1 and 3
