I am with you on Clemson. Not so sure about Alabama. Likely, yea it is more than likely but, they will most likely have to get past Georgia in Atlanta, if Smart has another bumper year I can see Georgia with a fire in their belly when it comes to that game. They have Auburn at home so no real issues there and the only other outlier I see is a huge maybe with A&M but they have them at home as well so it will probably come down to getting past Georgia and if the committee decides to put two SEC teams in the CFP again assuming the other conferences do not cannibalize themselves. I think the Big 12 may well do that, not sure about the possibility of the PAC 12 or B1G doing that.

Both UGA and Alabama have pretty easy schedules IMO...so both should easily make it to Atlanta in December.

I think UGA is going to have a TOUGH time with the loss of Chubb and Michel. Although UGA does seem to be a factory for RB's, so maybe their next guy will slide in with little loss at that position. Fromm should improve, but he will have more expectations on him without that duo at RB behind him. I don't see Florida, or Tennessee making enough improvement to beat them next year (although they may surprise people). UGA should roll fairly easily.

Alabama should roll as well. I think Auburn will take a step back (it's still a rivalry game though). Ole Miss and Miss St won't have much. Arkansas is Arkansas, and LSU is still probably a year or two away from getting back to competitive with Bama IMO.

If I were betting, I think Alabama is a lock to go undefeated and win the SEC this year. UGA will likely be undefeated, and lose in the SECCC IMO. Although, they have enough high end talent to knock anyone off.

How about this one? The B1G gets two CFP spots this year like the SEC did last year. SEC and ACC get one leaving out the two twelves...one of which only has ten.

Do you really put stock in what Cowturd says?

I like Cowherd. He does talk a lot about Lebron, and Brady, but he doesn't back down on controversial opinions. I have really enjoyed his analysis on the NFL the past few weeks. I think he is spot on with his analysis of Baker Mayfield. We'll see in the next 2-3 years if his predictions are correct with him.

I think the B10 is definitely deep enough to deserve two spots (at least so far on paper), but I think they will beat each other up enough to keep them from getting two teams into the playoffs.

He'll never bring it up again if he is wrong. That is how he works. He blurts out a bunch of crap and only brings it up again if he was right. Then he toots his own horn for a week.
He's not real knowledgeable on sports.

That's not entirely true. He does a segment "Where I was right and wrong" every Monday. He is pretty good at pointing out his bad takes and predictions on it. Maybe he doesn't hit everything, but he is pretty good at talking about his "swing and miss" predictions.

I think you underestimate his knowledge of sports.

He has an entire segment dedicated to when he was wrong.

It is done in a way that he doesn't bring up most of his misses. Many times he brings up his misses and then talks of how he was partly correct.

If he did it truly, it would take up most of his airtime because he is usually wrong.

Still that type of inexperience doesn’t usually warrant a top 10 preseason ranking.
Maybe they are getting more credit than they should but the last 2 years have been very good for PSU

I'm not buying into Penn State yet, but I agree that there will be a spot for the winner of the B10. Ohio St, Wisconsin should be the pre-season favorites, but PSU, Michigan, and MSU will have a great chance too.

I'm betting on Michigan, but that is a TOTAL homer pick.

Gee, if you hadn't said that I don't think we would've ever guessed it.

Out of these teams I give Washington the least likely chance. They have to play Auburn OOC. They lose that they need to go undefeated against the Pac 12. Which I don't think they can do. Penn State does have the schedule to do it, but can they overcome their personnel losses. I don't see anyway Bama and Clemson don't make it.

I'm not going to argue or debate, but the only way Washington
gets in with a loss to Auburn is if the Tigers win 10 or 11 games.

If Auburn goes 9-3 but beats Washington, Washington would then
need an 11-1 mark, plus two leagues with Champs having two
losses, and ND having a minimum of 2 losses, to even sniff
the playoffs. Their Pac12 schedule won't help them and neither
would wins vs BYU and North Dakota.

It's do or die for Washington when they face Auburn

If Washington losses to Auburn, who then wins less than 10
and if Clemson goes 12-1, Bama goes 12-1, Okie goes 12-1
Ohio St goes 12-1 and/or ND goes 11-1...without question
Washington will be left out.

I think there is a legit chance Georgia doesn't make it to Atlanta. They have a much tougher schedule than we do and they have some games where they will not be overwhelming favorites. Not saying they are not a legit team, just the grind has the potential to get them. We've been there more than once.

You are thinking about it in a static fashion.

It isn't just who you lost to, but WHEN you lost to them. It's well established that early losses count against you FAR less than later ones. Also by how much. A 23-20 loss doesn't do nearly the damage needed to be the only factor in UW being left out.

I'm not saying a 12-1 UW is a lock, but they would have a higher chance than you are painting. The real question is how they looked against the rest of the ranked teams they played and how many close games do they have against any type of non ranked team. Those would be what it boils down to. So again, it's not quite as cut and dry as you want it to be.

I would say that neither team can be eliminated in week 1, but the road to a playoff berth is much more difficult for the loser.

Not a fan of Cowherd, think Ohio State or Georgia make the playoffs ahead of Penn State and Washington.
