Keith Moon is my favorite. He played the drums as if they were a lead instrument which a lot of drum aficionados frown upon. I thought he was great. In fact Entwistle did the same thing with the bass and purely from an instrumental standpoint they're my favorite rock band.

100% agreement. I get into it with people who are Rolling Stones fans I just think the Who blows them away. The Who is one of my all time favs. Keith Moon was a bad ass drummer.

Dave Matthews Band has a new station on Sirius that I've been listening to, and Carter Buford is pretty god damned good. Unique style.

I've always liked him too, but never knew his name lol. Not a big fan of DMB as a whole though...

Charlie Watts-Rolling Stones

Guy was an experienced jazz drummer drafted by a fledgling rock and roll band that had no clue at that point. I think they figured it out

Love jazz-influenced guys in rock, big reason why I love Jimmy Chamberlain's playing.

Well I like The Stones more than The Who if only because the depth of their catalog is so much more impressive. I find it hard to explain, but with The Stones it's the overall sound and the way they blend together as a whole that makes them great.. the individual instruments are almost irrelevant. With The Who it's more like a great jazz combo playing rock.

No doubt the stones have a ton of good songs but I just don't care for them as much as The Who. Actually I just am not much of a stones fan save for a few songs.

Saw them both in concert and the Who was my second favorite concert ever. The stones was the worst.

I never saw the Who and after Moon & then Entwistle died wasn't really all that interested. I've seen the Stones several times. They've been great, bad and in-between.

I've seen the Stones perform four times and never saw a poor performance.

It's a tough choice for me. The Who was probably the best overall group of talent ever. Keith Moon, top 3 drummer. John Entwhistle, top 3 bassist. Roger Daltry, Top 10 vocal. Pete Townsend, top 30 guitarist. They have a great catalog of songs as well.
The Rolling Stones are great though.

I saw them at the Silverdome.

I saw The Who and several bands opened up for them. One was Stevie Ray Vaughn, just before that fatal day.
