Yes, I understood that. I just disagree. For example, OL depth was horrible last year and s/b much better this year. Other positions it's tough to say who is better, the starter or the backup. So my concern is more with the top end talent at certain spots than the backups who aren't expected to be great.

I can respect that. One of the reasons I think the Cowboys will struggle is my perceived lack of depth. However based on your comments and some others I have seen it appears the Cowboys may have done something about that lack of depth and I will have to defer to the experts that know more about the roster than I do. I have followed the moves they made and IMO I felt they did not do enough but you know the Cowboys better than I do.

Wow!! 1 vote for Carolina and that was mine - I'm of a good mind to take my ball and go home. Y'all are just a bunch of big ol meanies!!
Carolina with 2 shows you all you need to know about the posters on this board, couple that with the Lions having 5 votes, GMen with 5 and Washington with 4 and it becomes laughable.

I actually think Carolina has as good a shot as Dallas & Atlanta and most certainly SF

You can only pick so many teams.

Carolina and SF have a shot but I don't think they have as much of a shot as Atlanta and Dallas. You look at the Cowboys and they're built to win now. They have an identity on offense, they have a head coach thats been around awhile and they have a star RB in year 3 and a QB in year 3 and they built around having all pros on the Oline. You look at Atlanta and thats a team that probably could've won the Super Bowl the past 2 seasons with a little better coaching. The Falcons do have issues but they all showed up last year and they still made the playoffs.

Carolina brought in a new OC, has a bunch of young receivers and a young finesse RB and a pretty subpar looking offensive line. They also have their 3rd or 4th best defensive player suspended for a few games at the start of the season. The Panthers D is probably going to be in the top half of the league and maybe top third so they are going to be in alot of games but the Panthers are also a team that was 6-10 a couple of years ago.

The Bucs are getting 0 votes and they probably did more work in the offseason than almost anyone and are built to win now. NFC South also usually has a lot of fluctuation so they're getting disrespected, too.

Carolina got nearly every break imaginable and still only got the 5 seed. They're solid but they're closer to a 9-7 type team than they are an 11-5 type team

People get far too caught up in peuor year results without looking at roster moves, age, luck ( good OR bad from the prior year) etc

Dallas 2 years ago was 13-3 but their record in one score games was not a sustainable thing sp that led to the conclusion they would regress to 10 wins or so last year and that was before the Zeke suspension or any other roster moves and that also assumed their defensive efficiency spike wasn't an anomaly. There are teams this year in similar situations. Those are the teams you shouldn't have faith in
So we shouldn't have faith in the Falcons then. The Falcons should have lost to both Chicago and Detroit last year. Detroit was absolutely robbed. The Dallas game was also a gift with no Tyron Smith, Zeke, and Sean Lee leaving the game after one series. The Saints game in ATL was also a gift when Kamara left with a concussion after one series.

Falcons were really sloppy last year and they got themselves into some bad games they should've won (Buffalo) and had some games they really should've lost (Detroit). IIRC they burned me in eliminator. The big issue with the Falcons all year was drops and their defense was really mediocre.

Footballoutsiders had their DVOA at 15th and had their estimated wins at 8.5 last year. They also had a Variance score that was the best in the NFL which means they never peaked too high but never fell too low. The Rams interestingly enough had a Variance of 32nd which might explain why they beat them. They caught the Rams on a bad day but they also outcoached the Rams and made fewer mistakes.

I feel like Atlanta's floor is 7-9. Carolina's floor is probably 5-11. Assuming Qbs stay healthy. Both teams would tank without their QBs. I think Vegas actually has both teams with odds putting them out of the playoffs.

Lol. No. Atlanta lost as many games as they won by nad luck or bad bounces ( including the playoff game). Carolina won nearly every toss up game last year ( 8-1 in one score games ) and won a lot of them on freaky fluke plays

LOL, first and goal at the 9 and the 2016 MVP couldn't get it done is how I remember it.
shut out the second half wasn't bad luck, it was a team not good enough

Wouldn't have needed a TD if it weren't for the fluke at the end of the first half. That's football .

Another interesting thing about Dallas that gives me hope and reason to believe they are getting better is that they are pretty young. Now obviously that is only a good thing if the young guys improve which most Cowboys fans (of course) expect they will. Cowboys over 30 - Sean Lee, Kicker, Long Snapper.

My dark horse team to rise up and steal that last spot? Bears. They'll be the most improved team in the league this season and make it Carolina and an overrated Green Bay squad (Rodgers won't be able to save their ass this time around).

In order:

1. Rams
2. Eagles
3. Saints
4. Vikings
5. Falcons
6. Bears

Ben McAdoo might be the biggest moron we've seen coaching in the NFC East since Richie Kotite. He was 1-7 against the Eagles and is still running his mouth. He benched Eli for Geno Smith.

Giants fans, I am sorry this unemployed meathead is still out there flapping his lips and reminding people he coached your team.

On Carolina, I discounted them for the simple reason that they have to play Atlanta and New Orleans twice a year. Could they make the playoffs? Sure, but outside of Tampa that looks like a pretty darn tough division and someone is going to be sitting at home come playoff time.
