Did you know the NBA got rid of the 3 point shot? It's officially been changed to the Svi Point Shot. :drum:

Maybe if they can manage to get a couple of shooters around LBJ. but with the current roster - 50 is their cap & might be a little generous IMO.

I will say it again.

Awful silly to cap LeBron James.

Put him on the Kings and they get 45. Lakers could be pretty good this year.

Allonso Trier and Knox are just...bombs away.

...while the Lakers' first team was on the bench. That entire come back was with the Knicks first team against the Lakers reserves. As soon as the starters came back in to start the 4th, the run reversed back to the Lakers and they put the game away.

All those guys were on the Lakers last year. And the Lakers were the 2nd worst 3 pointing shooting team in basketball.

Those 4 guys combined for .364, good for 13th overall last year. Add in Lonzo though, and it drops to .350, where their team was last year. If Lonzo can improve (as the others continue to do, and the whole team should with a legitimate lead scoring threat in Lebron to draw the defense), the shooting should be much improved this year.

Dude, relax...it's Summer League.

Not many of those guys will even make the roster.

I knew Allonso could get buckets.

But, I had no idea Knox had that skill set.

2018 stats (without Lebron drawing double teams):

Hart: .396
Ingram: .390
KCP: .383
Kuzma: .366

They have added rookie shooters Wagner and Mykhailiuk. Just because Rondo (.333) and Stephenson (.289) aren't strong 3 pt threats doesn't mean they don't have decent shooters.
You forgot Lonzo.

Those 3 guys will likely see a ton of court time too.

That is the thing I hate most about the Rondo signing.

He and Lance will play at the expense of Hart and Svi.

So, it doesn't really matter how good the rookie and 2nd year guys are shooting if they are glued to the bench.

Mo is the only one that I can see getting consistent court time because your Center position is straight trash.

It's not so much a cap on him, but the TEAM. He isn't going to win 50 games by himself. I don't care how good he is.

Um. He basically did last year.

I understand they are in the West. But he also has significantly more talent to work with. The question is how well the pieces fit. There is absolutely no doubt that the Lakers have more better players than the Cavs did last year.

I agree they guys in LA are a lot younger - & that could mean better. But, the competition is different in the WC so their record might not necessarily reflect as them being better based on that competition.

It could.

But also, Houston has gotten worse. San Antonio is worse. Minnesota is having internal issues. OKC is OKC.

Yes. There are many more good teams. If you told me the Lakers would be the 7th best team In the West, I wouldn't be shocked. I also wouldn't be shocked if they were 2nd.

Houston is a CP3 injury away from being a middle of the pack team.

I agree that I can see LA being somewhere between 3 - 8 in seeding this season which is largely based on the competition around them in the WC.

Did you watch the game? The announcers were hyping up this huge run for the mighty Knox against guys that may not even make the cut in the G league this year. As soon as the starters came back in, Knox went back into his shell and missed all but 1 shot in the 4th.

Don't get me wrong, Knox was a great pick, but he's got a long way to go. His lack of explosion/speed worries me a bit, but he's got a lot to work with.

It does occur to me that I missed whenever it was that the rules changed allowing players to hang on the rim and do chin ups and everything. That was much more prevalent this past year without penalties. Knox' dunks all had extra "flair" on them, lol.

That team without Lebron (or any all-star leading the team) won 35 games while using kid gloves when any of them had injuries. Do you think the Cavs will win 35 games this year in the weaker East? Also, 2 of those Cavs spent most of last year on the Lakers.

Lmfao....

Dude, it's Summer League.

They get 10 fouls.

Clearly, they play fast and loose with the rules.

Yes, I watched the game.

That's how I know Kevin Knox hit 3 after 3.

Doesn't matter if he made them over a cardboard cut out or a children's booster seat.

The point of the post was that I didn't realize he could consistently make the shot.

I'm baffled why you are working this hard to discredit a 18 year playing Summer League against bench players and D leaguers.

Trae Young was extremely impressive to me, especially in the 4th quarter. He played under control and I think maybe just had one shot he had that I didn't think he should have taken. But in addition to that he was fantastic as a play maker and had a number of really great passes. Think he's gaining some confidence back with his shot and the rest of his game is benefiting from it.

Sexton has that lightning quick first step and athleticism- and he is just a great worker and leader. I really really like the pick.

Its hard for a point guard to totally dominate in today's NBA unless they are Curry like- but i think Sexton could definitely be the 2nd best player on a great team someday. Obviously that is WILDLY premature, but its just based on what i have read/seen thus far which is of course all we have to go on.

What kind of kid CONTINUES to go to classes when he doesnt have to and gets a 4.0?

if right now i had to choose between Lonzo Ball, Fultz, or Sexton - i am taking Sexton without a 2nd thought.

Are you making fun of the importance of a summer league championship?
