There are always break out teams - but I like your list. I took KC instead of Oakland. The NFC is tougher to predict

AFC is still a bit of a dumpster fire in that the dropoff from the top seeds to the bottom is drastic. The NFC is a much tougher conference right now. AFC is still on the rebound.

I'm not sure this is possible but this is how I see things

1. New England
2. Houston
3. Pittsburgh
4. Kansas City
5. Jacksonville
6. Tennessee

Every team in the AFC West should be getting votes, imo, because thats wide open. Baltimore is also in if they get any form of QB play

Am I crazy or did the Jaguars beat the Steelers twice last year?

Am I crazy or did the Jaguars have the Pats beat, too, but then they went all 'prevent' against Brady?

If Luck is healthy, the Colts can get a playoff spot.

I'm a Mahomes fan, but not sure about the playoffs in his 1st yr starting.

I worry a lot more about the defense than I do an otherwise stacked Andy Reid offense. If the Chiefs miss the playoffs, I would be stunned to learn the Chiefs had an even average defense.

Mahomes is a big wild card but the Chiefs defense is just as big of a Wild Card. They maybe had the worst defense in football at the end of last year and found a way to make the playoffs. The D is also going to get tested early with the first two games being Chargers and Steelers. Chargers don't have any TEs any more and KC should have Eric Berry back so that might not actually be too bad for KC.

The Steelers are probably the reason Alex Smith isnt here anymore so....I guess that matchup probably isnt going to be any worse. Do the Chiefs have the bodies and patience to stop Bell and AB? That will decide their fate more than anything.

edit - ninja'd.

Mahomes still matters a lot, though. If he goes all Paxton Lynch on the Chiefs then they'll tank for a season.

AFCS and West are hard to read. Bottom line I think the Jags look like a team that is playing a high-wire act with Bortles at QB. With a 1st place schedule, I think the Jags may be in a bit of trouble if a team like Baltimore finds some life at QB with Jackson.

Browns are weirdness but I think it's safe to exclude them with Hue in the way.

Feels like you can pick anyone in the AFCS to win that division. Maybe even snatch a WC.

If the Steelers were a stock, I'd be telling everyone to sell right now.

No Ryan Shazier, Bell slowed down a little last year, Ben getting older, lots of tight games last year, AB played out of his mind last year, didn't win a playoff game. I think the Ravens are a much bigger threat to the division then tHoopla thinks.

I do think they have one more run in them but I dont think they're as solid going into this season as they have been the past couple of seasons.

My issue with the Ravens is pretty much the same issues I have with the Jags. I went with the Ravens ultimately because I think that they got a solid backup plan when and if Flacco predictably fails.

Yeah, there are a lot of teams in the AFC where you go 'yeah, they look good....but the Quarterback...' and its easy to fall back into the Patriots and Steelers running the AFC mindset.

I'm picking the Steelers only because I dont think Lamar Jackson is ready and I think Flacco is content in just getting paid. The AFC has so many young QBs in it right now, though, that even one or two improving could drastically change everything.
