If I were the Cavs this is what I would do:

1. Trade Korver

2. Trade Love

I can't imagine that Korver would get the Cavs a 1st of any kind. Unless Lebron really wants him. Love has value but it's tricky because you will need to take back a lot of salary to make the trade happen most likely.

3. Do something with Jr and Hill's "expiring deals"- whether its taking back bad money from other teams or for assets or whatever. You MIGHT have to wait until the end of the year to do it since thats when they would ahve the most worth. Any team trying to get under the cap could trade a contract and then just cut Hill or Smith---- that has some real value in the league right now with how cap space is. Imagine if a team could have done that this year.

People overrate the value of expiring contracts. They only have value if the Cavs are willing to take on longer term contracts of equal value.

4. I would not say "tank"--- but yah- pretty much tank. Just play the young guys and try and develop them, and in a deeper East, and in the WEst were their are practically no teams tanking, you should be able to get a top 5 pick fairly easily

There are about 5 teams that are likely to be tanking this year.

The CAvs are sooooo much better off than last time LeBron left. They have their title, their 4 appearances- and some actual talent.

True. The Cavs had nothing when Lebron left.

You'd be kissing his taint and calling him one of the best players of all time if he decided to come to Cleveland.

Not that he would because nobody wants anything to do with that shithole any more.

Remember how much he hated on Wade until the day he left the Heat?

A late first or a couple 2nd for Korver is what Amico was suggesting

That is EXACTLY how i said they should use them- taking on longer term contracts of equal or, likely even LESSER value in order to get assets- like Baron DAvis--- or Speights and Ellington, etc. 2 summers ago expirings werent worth anything with the cap hike- now they actually do have some value if you will take back bad money

I can see maybe the Bulls tanking and the Hawks tanking in the East. In the West- i dont really know anyone that is tanking in the West.

Well ok I guess. Kinda makes getting free agents harder. If you are going full tank then it makes sense though.

I can see maybe the Bulls tanking and the Hawks tanking in the East. In the West- i dont really know anyone that is tanking in the West.

Knicks may go winless this year.
Grizzlies will have significant incentive to tank
Hawks will be tanking.
Bulls wil be tanking by the end of the season
Magic will be tanking unintentionally at first
Nets will be tanking for their 1st lottery pick in forver that they get to keep

i didnt have anything personally against Wade i just knew he was a shell of his former self a lot earlier than you did

You must have me confused with someone else.
And, if memory serves you were the one saying Riley low balled Wade AFTER he left.
I was all for not overpaying him.
Him leaving though, turned into matching the Tyler Johnson offer, which is still a mystery to most.

good call on the Knicks, and Hawks- though the Bulls may be a little better than you think they will be. Lavine/Dunn/Markenen/etc. is not just terrible.

Like you siad- the MAgic may "unintentionally" tank but i dont htink they will out right tank

I am not sure with the Nets- they have set themselves up the last few years to win games during the regular season because they didnt get any picks.

In the West there really isnt much.

this year there were a lot more teams right off the bat that you knew would be bad than there will next year thats for sure. Memphis i dont htink has their pick, Sacramento does not have their pick, the Lakers wont be tanking anymore, The Suns wont be tanking anymore, The Griz will be healthy and will try and win (even if thats dumb) with Conley and Gasol etc.,

So--- Bulls, Hawks, maybe Magic, maybe Nets, but thats pretty much it......the Kings should be bad regardless if they get their pick or not- and so might the Griz but i think the Griz should win 30+ pretty easily

Wade can still play. Or maybe you missed the playoffs.
