Interesting parameters.
What should the parameters be? Josh Johnson was his QB at SD, he got drafted. Andrew Luck was his QB at Stanford, he got drafted. Ruddock was the QB his first year at UM, he got drafted. Speight was his QB the last two, he isn’t draft eligible yet.

I think PJ Fleck will get Gophers in conversation. We finally have athletic facilities that put us closer to on par with better programs. We're on pace to have another recruiting cycle rated in 30's. I know 30's doesnt sound great, but Kill only had one class above 50's and the 30's is range Wisconsin lives in....

I really do hope PJ turns that program around.......Although its been fun to beat Minny 14 times in a row, it would be nice to have a rivalry like that of the Vikings / Packers......

Badgers now have a slight edge in overall series, their domination over MN past 20 years is a bit of a sore spot here. Even few of the Mason teams that were in theory better than Wis dropped the ball

Wisconsin benefits greatly from being B1GW, but I think we'll get our act together sooner or later

There's always hockey for you to get your wins.

Hockey is third on my list of sports, and as UMD Grad I root for Bulldogs over Gophers, although I still root for Gophers

BTN Monday Motivation for June 18, 2018.

Yes, that is me with the Top Hat and Husker Fists.

I am in the front row, right behind the Indiana Bench at around the 28 yard line.

The Kicker's net was right in front of me, and their All Big 10 kicker was giving me the side eye the entire time.

Whenever the Indiana players would turn around to try and fire up the crowd, I stood up.

Three drunk Indiana fans did threaten me with violence but they did not have tickets for that area. Not sure if they decided they were too drunk or if they were escorted away.

Some of the Indiana fans were happy I was there because they said they had never been on TV before. They were were getting texts asking if they were sitting next to the Nebraska fan with boxing gloves.

Those are Hulk Hands bought for $5 and spray painted.

June 21 Michigan budget meeting

Big Ten distributes 51.1 million in 2018 to Big Ten member Michigan, for sure.
SEC distributed 40.1 million

Going to be 52 million in 2019.

Nebraska receives a full share from here on out.

Meanwhile, Big 12 distributed $36,500,000 to their schools. Each school controls their own 3rd tier.

This is how it pans out on highest paid schools from Rights and Licensing

1. Texas going to be close with Michigan, but I know Texans want to claim number 1, but it could be Michigan
2. Michigan
3. Ohio state
4. Alabama
5. Kentucky
6. Florida
7. tennessee
8. Wisconsin
9. Michigan State
10. Penn State
11 - 18. The rest of the Big ten not Rutgers
19 - 23. SEC
24. Oklahoma
25-29 SEC

So, out of the top 29, only two schools are NOT from the SEC and B1G.

Rutgers is around 50th because they took the front end deal. Rutgers and Maryland became one year closer to a full share.

If money brings power, then the ACC, PAC 12, and Big 12 are in trouble because the SEC and B1G have got the extra bucks.

maryland will be raking in around $60,000,000 in rights and licensing per year when a full member, meanwhile over on the ACC FSU and CLemson will be raking in around $45,000,000 per year during the same time frame.

Here are 5 surprising upsets or trap games in the B1G this season. Do I think these will happen? No. But I don't think it is impossible either.

Week 6 - Maryland at Michigan - The Terps could likely be 2-2 and the Wolverines be 5-0 heading into that game. Following Maryland, Michigan will face Wisconsin at home.

Week 6 - Indiana at Ohio State - Instead of who the Buckeyes have after Indiana, it will be who they have the week before - Penn State. Indiana could very well pull off what Iowa did a season ago.

Week 9 - Penn State vs Iowa - What makes this tough is Iowa played them really well last season and Iowa is traditionally a team you don't want to overlook. But PSU has Michigan and Wisconsin after Iowa. If PSU can beat Ohio State, they could possibly be undefeated.

Week 10 - Michigan State at Maryland - I know the Spartans might not be at the level of OSU or PSU. But the Terps have a couple QBs that are dangerous and MSU has Ohio State the following week. NW could be another MSU loses, but I am not sure if that is really an upset.

Week 12 - Wisconsin at Purdue - Same reason why Indiana could be Ohio State, Wisconsin plays Penn State the week before. Also, if Wisconsin beats Michigan and Ohio State, they will probably be undefeated heading into the game and Purdue will have nothing to lose. That CFP talk gets a lot of teams.

There's no 2020 recruiting thread yet, so I am putting this here.

Harbaugh takes his team to Paris. Cool move.

Urban Meyer counters - Paris commits to the Buckeyes. LOL

Someone just bumped Brutus' January 2015 post regarding Cordell Broadus......WTF?.....must be AG's alt.

Broadus quit UCLA/retired from football Summer 2016.

Michigan State Spartans
Head coach: Mark Dantonio (100-45, 12th year)

2017 record and S&P+ ranking: 10-3 (19th)

Projected 2018 record and S&P+ ranking: 9-3 (11th)

Five key points:

  1. The Spartans dramatically underachieved in 2016, then swerved right back into 10 wins in 2017. And now they return more of last year’s production than anyone else in FBS.
  1. The State offense is still very much the State offense, running too much (for too little gain) on standard downs but making up ground when behind the chains.
  1. QB Brian Lewerke and a loaded receiving corps should assure that remains the case, even if RB LJ Scott and the run game remain inefficient.
  1. What a turnaround for the State defense, which lost a majority of its two-deep after underachieving, then surged back into the Def. S&P+ top five. Almost everyone’s back.
  1. The schedule is as favorable as a Big Ten East slate can be. MSU is a double-digit favorite in nine games. With simple achievement, this could be another 10-win year.
